Sian was meant to be on today and yesterday according to the radio times, but Kate Silverton was on instead. Was this anything to do with the Mail on Sunday story?

why carn't moira stewart be a co presenter instead of doing the headlines every half hour.i think she would be great presenting breakfast.oh and why wont the bbc get some new news readers instead of reshuffling all of the time.

Great to hear that Sian is to become the full-time presenter of Breakfast. I've been enjoying the programme so much more since Kerplunk went to the Six.

I'd guess if she's going to be away on maternity leave we could be seeing rather more of Kate Silverton on the Breakfast sofa.

But they are going to need to get someone else to replace Mishal as well. I hope Susana makes a return, i have not seen her on News 24 since she has had her baby, is she back, or if not does anyone know when she will be back?

One thing we do have to bear in mind, however, is that Kate Silverton has her own shift anyway on N24 and is scheduled to keep it in the reshuffle therefore a permanent move to Breakfast is incredibly unlikely.
I anticipate that Susanna Reid will be returning soon and that will cover for Mishal and I'm sure that Sian won't be disappearing from our screens suddenly - I'd expect at least another four or five months at least, depending on the state of her pregnancy. If we calculate this forward then it takes us to around about the time of the new Breakfast set so we could have a whole new set of presenters for the relaunch (with this press release indicating only the near future).

Alternatively, Moira could present the programme as Louisa Preston and Susanne Virdee are both available for the news summaries throughout the week. I suppose the news summaries could even be read by Chris Hollins (sport) or just scrapped entirely with the main presenters reading the news from the sofa.

Of course Susanne Virdee has proven that she has good chemistry with all of the other presenters, and has a personality as well, could she possible be promoted to the Breakfast Sofa,or will they get someone new entirely in. Well at the most there is only a two month gap between the births of Mishal's and Sian's babies. With all the pregnancies on Breakfast for the past two years, i wonder if someone has been on the viagra?
It is great news for Sian, Congratulations.

Possible, but I think it's probably because she has two older children and many schools are on their Easter holidays. She's down to do the Six next week (according to the RT ) and so could be off this week instead.

EDIT: according to the Evening Standard report, the BBeb originally said she was working before saying she was taking a week's holiday - so it looks more likely.

I can see Kate Silverton being Sian's number 2, she's brilliant and obviously being lined up for bigger and better things in the future.

She's so un-BBC it's quite untrue, though.

Yes but Kate has had her post confirmed in the News 24 reshuffle, and i doubt they will play about with the reshuffle so soon after the announcement. However saying this i realise Kate will be off for a couple of days next week as she is down to do Breakfast this weekend and on Good Friday. What ever happens they will have to introduce a new female presenter to the Sofa on Breakfast, as there are currently 3, which will soon be decreased to just 1.

So what... you expect them to have somebody on standby just to fill in for Breakfast when Sian's off? It's not like she'll be off 6 days a week when she returns... and yes Kate's place is confirmed in the new News 24 lineup but news of Sian's pregnancy only came out in the last few days.

I am sure the producers were aware before the papers.

Charlie Stayt is the new man at Breakfast!!!!
And he starts this weekend presenting with Kate Silverton on both Saturday and Sunday. He's also presenting on Good Friday with Kate.

It looks like he's the new third presenter, replacing Simon McCoy.
