Personally, I can't understand why they don't just simulcast 6-9am with World. If they can do it during the night, why not in the morning? This would offer British viewers greater choice - serious, international news or light-hearted, mostly domestic coverage.

I'd like to see World on N24 between 6-9, but it's nto possible with the current set up. N8 would need to be fully staffed, in order to handle the opt outs, and News 24 would need to fill during ad breaks etc. This would mean the saving they make from only producing one domestic breakfast show is lost.

Also at that time of day, N8 is used for screen tests, and any maintenence work that needs to be done can be scheduled then. Being on air 24 hours a day means a lot of wear and tear on a studio, and there has to be some give.

There is no reason why N9 could not fill the opts by running News24 Promos or weather

Sorry, but I don't understand why News 24 would have to fill in opts and commercial breaks from 6-9am, as it already has to during The World Today, when it does not have to do so from 1-5am. This is something that has intruiged me for a while. Can anyone explain this?

I thought breaks were sustained by the breakfiller/dynamic junction?

A nice closing shot of the programme today - from the left hand side of the studio zoomed in, as usual, zooming out and panning across the whole of the sofa but flat on the ground. It would have looked even better if there was a plasma screen on the right hand side of the set.

They are, but you can't put that out on News 24, as it is loaded with sponsorship, ad for World programmes, etc.

According to the BBC News thread Sian is also pregnant. So if Sian and Mishal are both on Maternity leave who will cover, will Moira get promoted to the sofa (i doubt this), or will we see Susanna Read return to Breakfast with Kate co-presenting, or will there be someone completely new. Soon there won't be any female presenters left at Breakfast.

Aah..but surely a Market Board could be put into place ala a breakfiller? And the same for a weather forecast? Just without any advertisements. Even a traffic board for the mornings....all to the tune of a bit of upbeat music!

Pure speculation but it could happen if this was a road they wanted to take...

sorry if this is old news, but Charlie Stayt is presenting Breakfast with Kate Silverton this weekend, and on Good Friday (according to the RT, at least)

Och, I was hoping for Rob the Butler, not that I am going to see it mind. Strange - he was on Sky just a few days ago.

We knew someone was comming, but did not know who. Every one believed it would be Rob Butler, but it will be good to see Charlie back.
