What happens on Thursday then?

Breakfast will be broadcast on BBC2, so sub-opts on analogue will not be available I presume (for example, Look North Hull viewers will get Look North Leeds). Also, the regional newsteams in England will not be available on digital.

Why the BBC think the Commowealth games should deserve a place on BBC1 and cock up the regular schedule, being as though all Winter Olympic coverage was shown on BBC2, god knows. But that's not for here.

No you missed my point. There are NO English Region Opts from Thursday, when Breakfast moves to BBC2 (Analogue or Digital). The only opts will be from The Nations: NI, Wales and Scotland. TC7 will sustain during these opts.

And I presume that the fact that the CG are on BBC1 is a contractual agreement which was part of the contract when the BBC won the games.

So it will be something like "for viewers in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, the news now where you are. And still to come on Breakfast this morning... but first some of your comments" up to some trails?

If I read this right then, TC7 will/should provide a sort of ' UK Today' type of prog at this point on all platforms, because I can't see why regional news should go ahead in the nations, but not in English regions/CI !

I think GMTV might have a few more viewers during this period, if this is correct, because they can broadcast regional news, on the channel they're supposed to be on!

(Slightly off topic, but could you see ITV doing a similar thing with GMTV in the future ? Does anyone actually watch the ITV2 transmission of the NewsHour?)

Well I think that this is absolutely ridiculous. I watch Look North in the morning to check the travel news, but it looks like I'm going to have to take a gamble on the roads as from Thursday. Thanks BBC!

By the way, if BBC2 doesn't support regional opt outs in England, how come viewers in Yorkshire and Lncolnshire only get the Super League Show on BBC2 analogue on a Sunday morning?

Kinda answered your own question there.

Put simply, English region opts not possible on BBC2 digital, only on analogue. Furthermore, Hull specific opts only on BBC1. Period.

Don't be so silly. In the real world, noone actually gives a fcuk about regional news, and viewing figures won't be affected at all.

The Commonwealth Games come round once every 4 years, so it's hardly a big deal to shift a programme that's on EVERY DAY off to another channel for a bit.

It's only fanatics on this board who are moaning about regional news not being on, and actually you don't even care about it; you're just pontificating to make yourselves look good.

I, for one, would be quite pleased not to see the cringingly awful BBC local news in the morning...not that I watch Breakfast, cause it's shhit..

Well I think that post cheered us all up Dog. Well done.

And as for calling people on this board fanatics as they're complaining about something that's on television, WHY did you sign up? Did you expect something other than this? I'll agree it gets tiresome but that's just the nature of the forum. At the end of the day it's only a message board.

Besides, I for one will not be switching over to GMTV during said period as their regional news is, quite frankly, down the proverbial pan.

Yes but one poster above (Media Boy) says that as from Thursday there will be no English regional news at Breakfast on BBC2 network analogue, except the nations. Therefore, I'm slightly confused because SLS is a regional show in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire which is broadcast on BBC2 analogue.
