Breakfast has had a special Oscars slug at the lower right-hand side of the screen for its Oscars coverage this morning. It sits in place of the usual Breakfast-coloured block to the right of the standard one- and two-line astons.

Just another, minor observation: Tom Brook's microphone flag on N24 last night had the white stacked BBC News logo on a red background. This morning, on Breakfast, Sarah Campbell's mic flag was a slightly different version of the stacked logo on a blue background. How unusual.

I personally was disgusted at Breakfast this morning regarding their Oscar coverage. They handed over to LA three times in ten minutes. I was relieved when the journalist couldn't get anyone to interview because I didn't bloody want to hear interviews with Oscar winners. Say what you like but I think there are much more important things to talk about in life, especially first thing in the morning, than Oscars. And there were other important stories in the news to talk about this morning.

I usually am a big fan of breakfast, but I'm not exagerrating, it had me fuming this morning.

I hate Oscar night every year. It's so vile. If they get interviews with people great, record them and show them in a package. It's the pointless corssing over to mongle reporters shouting out names that I hate.

Moyles had the right idea this morning when they had their reporter shouting out "Aled" instead

I agree, they were doing it on GMTV as well and used to do it on The Big Breakfast, dropping everything and anything to cross live to your reporter almost interviewing someone.

On GMTV it was like "Thanks Carla we'll get back to you later, but now the news with Penny" "Thanks, <gets half way through first story>, but now we can cross back over to Carla Romano..."

absolutely pointless - it was soul destroying for sarah campbell trying to get mpeople to stop only for them to ignore her - and her continually reminding us how fabulous etc etc it was didn't convince me. I don't care one iota about oscars BBC should give them a 30 second slot at the end of Moira's breakfast briefing - if at all !

no more oscars please

I see that Breakfast has won in the category of Best Daytime Programme at the 2006 TRIC Awards.

Thats the third year running - so a real HAT-TRIC!! Laughing

Also congratulations to Helen Willets who scooped Best Weather Presenter, narrowly beating Carol Kirkwood.

Carol wouldn't win. I like her, but she has this incredibly annoying habit of saying, "that's it, back to you two" at the end of nearly all her forecasts (at breakfast). By doing that, she makes it sound as though only Dermot and Sian are watching her forecast.

You may say that - but Carol did actually win the TRIC award a few years ago!!!

Sorry to disappoint you, but Carol won the TRIC award for best weather forecaster three years ago. See this if you really don't believe me.

Well I've just found out that Breakfast will move to BBC2 as from next Wednesday (15th), because it's vital that BBC1 presents coverage of the Commonwealth games.
