With reference to Ms Mishal Husain's move to Breakfast........

I haven't read or seen the quoted article that refers to this, but perhaps we are all barking up the wrong tree:

1) Ms Husain's current placement at Breakfast (weekdays and weekend mix) was ALWAYS only a temporary secondment from BBC World. It is not a permanent thing.

2) Perhaps her move to Breakfast is now permanent, however she will only be the secondary presenter (relief and weekends), but now in a permanent capacity, in the way that Ms Sian Williams used to hold this role.

3).......and, perhaps, Ms Williams in fact IS going to be the new weekday full-time presenter?

4) Regarding the website, I also wouldn't read too much into the removal of Natasha Kaplinsky's picture and profile from it. In fact, didn't the same thing happen with Ms Sian Williams' profile when she last undertook the extended secondment to the Six O'clock News? I can vaguely recall that her profile was also temporarily removed.

Being based in the UK, you guys will all be better placed than me to conclusively comment on all of the above. I am just throwing-in a few observations as I see them remotely.

James

Yes Sian's profile was removed from the Breakfast website when she moved over to the Six temporarily two years ago but it was removed soon after she left, not five months afterwards.

Really geeky thing to notice, but are those mugs, different this morning - they look more red, with a more ribbon style to them - or is it just me? Laughing

I thought that at first, but I think it's just the angle they were placed. I think the left-hand side of the design, which was all that was visible when I was watching, is redder than the rest.

Were those titles ever used. They look dramaticly different and much more "morning" style compared to the current ones.

Something quite similar was used between 2000 and 2003 for the opt in from the regions. However, it wasn't quite as red.

So are these new(ish) looking titles permanent or just used now and then?

Indeed - this is one that I remember:

You can see the "sun rays" represented in the background but, as itsrobert says, far less red is used in this one.

Does anyone know the reasoning behind withdrawing that particular sting from the half hour? I thought it looked good and to be honest better than the other one posted (the one that didn't make it on air).

That sting was in my opinon better looking than the titles itself and the music at the half hour was more newsier too IMO. Shame they just do a bad camera shot now isnt it

They did experiment a while ago with using a sting combined with a shorter camera swoop on Dermot and Sian. Didn't really work though as the VT sting ended about 2 seconds too fast

I think they should mabey so a zoom into the desk from infront of it with the lights brigenting up instead of the pan around...it would be much better and you dont get to see the whole of the awful studio!
