Where is it confirmed Mishal is going to be Natasha's replacement - or is this just speculation? Sian's bio is now where Kurplunsky's was and her face is next to Dermot's on the website. What should be read into that?
Broadcast are reporting it - how often are they off the mark?

Not much - Declan's face is also now in the top 5 presenters' bit. I think it's just a case of needs some rearranging. As you'll probably notice Chris Hollins hasn't got a proper profile yet and Louisa Preston has a new profile pic.
It seems a bit silly that they're giving Mishal the top gig though, just in time for her maternity leave. Maybe Susanna Reid will pop back, she was fab
I agree that Natasha should be moved off of Breakfast as she has been doing so well on the Six. I'm a little disappointed that Mishal is going to be permanent as I feel that Sian is better and more suited for the weekday Breakfast programme with Mishal better for the weekend. To me it would make more sense, if the presenters had to remain the same, to have Bill and Sian (Mon-Thurs) then Dermot and Mishal (Fri-Sun). I'd say this as the latter two are clearly suited to a more newsier programme than weekday Breakfast is.
Maybe Sian did not want the weekday gig? It might not be a case of bosses shunting her for Mishal.
Indeed, the thing that annoys me most about this forum is that people treat presenters as pieces in a board game. It's as if all decisions have some ulterior motive and that they all come from the management. As you said, Sian may have been offered the main job but turned it down. She may have family commitments which prevent her from presenting the programme all week every week or she might just like being the weekend/relief presenter.
Congratulations to Mishal, though. I've watched her on BBC World for several years (indeed, from her days as a business presenter) and always knew she was destined for a domestic programme. It'll be a shame for BBC World, though, as she was a very capable presenter.
True, but I still think Sian must be at least peeved that Natasha got the Six over her, after all she had ben a stand-in presenter on the programme for seven years and presented full time during Sophie's first maternity leave.
It seems that she's always the bridesmaid but never the bride after all she was overlooked when Huw and Fiona left the Six in favour of Sophie, overlooked when Sophie left Breakfast in favour of Natasha, overlooked when Anna announced she was leaving the One in favour of Sophie and overlooked again now in favour of Natasha (She has presented all of these programmes). If Mishal has got Breakfast, then I'm pleased for her, I do like her but feel that Sian deserves a more prominant role, that said, as you say, if she wants it.

That makes me even more inclined to believe it is her choice not to take up the lead role. If she'd been "overlooked" that many times by management, I think she'd have probably moved to another broadcaster who would value her more. She's obviously happy with the arrangements she has or I doubt she would have stayed with the BBC. Sian is a very capable and likeable presenter and I think either ITN, CNN or Sky would chew their right arm off for her.
sorry to disagree with you all........ but i think she is so so awful
Well everyone's entitled to their own opinions and all that, but what is there not to like about Sian? I'm not particularly a fan of BBC News and it's presenters, but Sian is, I believe, excellent.

No you don't, I'm not too keen!
She's OK, but is incredibly patronising and a bit mumsy! "Let's look at the time shall we? Well the big hand's on the 5 and the little hand's on the 8, so what time is that children?" And the way she looks at her co-presenter when they say something, nods and goes "Hmmm" as if she agrees - he's reading it off the autocue you stupid cow! We know that, you know that, stop being so bloody false!

But she's OK.
Have to agree - she's a newsreader trying to become 'engaging' but comes across as patronising - she has never been the same since she came back from her stint on the Six - she's developed the noding head syndrome that has also hit Katie Derham.
And she seems to smile - no matter how sombre or serious the story is. Grrr.
