The most embarrasing nonsense I've ever seen on television this morning when Lionel Blair (yes, you heard me correctly) was on blubbing about his kidnapped pooch.

How would you like it if your pet had been stolen?

Why would that have any relevance to the suitability to the world's most respected broadcaster's main morning news programme turning into a pets lost & found service. It was pitiful!

A very valid point and although Breakfast has slipped in the last year I'd take serious issue with it being that rubbish. Should never of been allowed to happen!

Unusual shot this morning that I've not seen before - and I believe must've only started this week, is a "quick chat" between Big Moira and Dermot & Sian prior to 6:30. Nice angle on the right-hand edge of the set which isn't normally seen:

Is it beneath them to sit on the sofa with Big Moira, or is it "HER" sofa until 6:30 Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

^^^ It's not new its been happening for quite a while.

It wouldn't really work if they were all sat on the sofa together.

I don't see why, she is "part of the team", surely, and she did sit with Dermot when Nat was late one day owing to her Come Dancing fiasco.

I noticed that today we learned how they get cued for vid clips, Dermot must've realised his "click" (more of a beep) went out on air and heard it in the studio as well as his earpeice.......and made a comment about it. So did Nat, but that was silent during the pull-out for the regional opt-outs.

Er... wasn't that just the farmer on the VT clip whistling at his pig? - the sound was up before the vision mixer cut to the clip was all that happened. Presenters certainly don't get beeps played down their earpieces when VTs are run - the director simply tells them when the VT is on air - or they see it themselves from their studio monitors.

It certainly wasn't a cue beep. The presenters are told what to do by the director. And on Breakfast it is no longer VT - it's all off the server these days. In the very old days when machines had to get up to speed there would be a count to the start of the VT and directors would work out which words to run the VT on so that it started when the presenter stopped talking. The only beeps that there used to be was to communicated with the VT play in operators. Noggin or someone will know better but I think it was one beep that the VT was ready, two beep for no - it saved lots of mixed talkback in the gallery and was very simple to understand. With the server it's all instant now - no VT clocks just cued up on the first frame of the piece.

Some areas still use beeps rather than further confuse talkback - and yes - its one beep for ready and two beeps for not ready following a check request from the director.

Isn't it more of a buzz than a beep?

Mishal to Breakfast??????

Surely someone can shed some light on the future for Sian. With Mishal moving to Breakfast Mon-Thu, Sophie to the One, there is still no news of what's happening on the Six?

Well if Mishal is the new Mon-Thu presenter, won't they need someone to cover her maternity leave? Aren't the twins due to be born in June (according to her Sunday telegraph interview the other week), so presumably she'll be off from around the time the presenter changes take effect. Although providing maternity cover isn't really fair on Sian: more of a Kate Silverton/Susanna Reid job (if she's back). No, put Sian on the Six. Tasha's doing the 'Eurovision: Making your Mind Up' prog on Sat (bound to be dire), let her have more light entertainment progs and give Sian the job she deserves!

Lots of people (myself included!) still call it a VT clip though, even though it's strictly speaking innaccurate to do so - just force of habit I guess...
