They were back this morning - unfortunately Sad , it looked much better without them!

Indeed........I too was gutted to see the return of those damned spotted panels this morning:

Perhaps we could have a collection and bribe someone in the Scenery Department to "accidentally" jam that door again (on a regular basis) Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

The set has only got a few more weeks left, before it is gone for good.

It's a hell of a lot longer than a few weeks i'm afraid.... Wink

The rumor for the relaunch is in the middle of April, 6/7 weeks time.

I think your find its now scheduled for early-ish summer rather than early-mid spring...

Well if it is now early Summer, it must be about 16 weeks away.

The most embarrasing nonsense I've ever seen on television this morning when Lionel Blair (yes, you heard me correctly) was on blubbing about his kidnapped pooch.

All this on 'News Channel of the Year'

Please oh please let News 24 start at 8am soon!

Interesting that this week's Broadcast says that Mishal has been offered Natasha's role at Breakfast full time opposite Dermot.

Oooh interesting!! So Dermot's not leaving Breakfast! And where does this leave poor Sian? Surely she should get it!

So does that mean that George is staying on the Six?

If indeed they were using the main Newsnight set as it is normally behind the cameras in the back part of the studio during a normal Brekafastm there is an option with the LED lighting to flood the back of the set with green colour and so create a CSO background. This would account for the tight shots and limited camera angles.

Newsnight quite often use this effect to create so their CSO driven pieces.

The background was the normal Breakfast backdrop, and not CSO. I didn't notice any tight camera shots, they produced the usual ones at the TOTH and at Moira's handover to Dermot. The only thing missing was the bit that normally goes in front of it - ie the dreaded spotted panels on the wooden platform with the halogen spotlights in.

If I'm to be serious and sensible, I'd agree that something like that has no place on a news programe and I'd watch GMTV if I wanted to see trivial trash like that.

However...

My gut reaction was that it was pant-wettingly funny TV Gold, and without doubt the campest thing I've seen on TV in many years. It was also a great tribute to Bill and Mishal's professionalism that they kept straight faces throughout.

Pity that Mishal isn't coming back to us then. We will miss her on BBC World.

How would you like it if your pet had been stolen?

I agree...but i admit it might not of been Breakfast material but by the sounds of things the other day, Lionel treaured his dog, and people who love their pets alot, they take anything ahppening to them really hard.

Why would that have any relevance to the suitability to the world's most respected broadcaster's main morning news programme turning into a pets lost & found service. It was pitiful!
