Nice use of cameras I thought with Andi Peters live in Albert Square. Reminded me somewhat of when Nicki Chapman used to go to a National Trust property for the last half hour of the programme on a Friday back in (IIRC) 2004.

Is that something we really want to be reminded of? As I remember it was tedious in the extreme, and such an Alan Partridge programme idea.

I thought it was quite interesting though it wasn't really suitable to say that Breakfast is meant to be a news programme. Despite this, it did offer a bit of variety to a ridiculously long entertainment section.
I would still cut Breakfast back to 9.00 personally with just the last half hour on entertainment.

They should go back to how it used to be with just one or 2 features, instead of all the fluff we have now. Justin Webb or Sally Magnusson would never have entertained all this nonsense.

All i want in the moring is the news. All this fake friendliness gets on my nerves - they're all at it now.

Am I hallucinating, or is that a purple sofa I see on Breakfast this morning?

Have you not be warned about those late night sessions before Smile ?

Not just a purple sofa, but it looks like the background has had some of it's panels changed.

No dirty white panels with lots of mucky handprints in sight. Just a panoramic of the fake complex behind them now.

Quite right. The white panels with the randomly scattered red dots all over it are no more, and as welshkid correctly points out, the view over British Airways Watersi-- sorry, "the BBC" now extends to a full panoramic view giving the impression of a wall of glass overlooking the fake centre. Looks a hell of a lot better than before I have to say, but why on earth have they gone with a purple sofa? And why make these two relatively minor - though still significant and noticeable - changes ahead of a supposed move to a new shared studio in a few months?

And why, about 20 minutes ago, did I see a full screen graphic on a background that looked like it had been plucked from the titles bearing the legend "3.00" in the middle in very large dark red Gill Sans?

The public deserve to know. Someone call the Daily Mail at once.

Something makes me think these changes aren't permanent.

Look, no proper wide shots. Mismatched panels. Moira's background looking very dark and unlit. Extremely tight shots of the sofa.

Something must have happened last night or this morning that prompted this hasty change of scenery.

Well, it was just announced that Breakfast is "borrowing" the Newsnight sofa because they couldn't get to the Breakfast sofa oweing to two tonnes of stuff being in front of it. One assumes that background set pieces may also have been caught up in this unfortunate cupboard traffic jam, and that therefore we may regrettably see the return of the white dotty panels. Bugger.

wonder if this is anything to do with newsnight review borrowing it on friday night

The 8:00 headlines were a bit of a mess - the camera wouldn't cut to Moira for a while, and then I think she read exactly the same opening headline as Dermot and Sian read out.

Edit: Who was that talking in the background on the handover to Moira at 9? "Wish me luck...."

I presume that there were some technical difficulties as we had the intro for the main story before crossing to Moira, after the camera stayed on Dermot and Sian without cutting to Moira. She then did the first part of her usual summary, without pictures, then had a speech from the Israeli prime minister then started with the intro for the main story ('first our main story this morning') and continued with the main story as usual. After this, the news summary continued with no other problems in sight.

That was the actress who won the award for her role in Crash - obviously the tape hadn't been stopped, hence hearing some more of the clip.
