It would be good for Mike to stay over here - if the potential reshuffle happens and Dermot is sent to the 10 or wherever, Simon could do Breakfast and Mike could do the 9-1 on News 24. Far too much McCoy / Silverton footsie under the desk recently for my liking! Split them up.
Although I doubt it will be an easy task to prise Mike away from sunny Australia.

I'd leave Simon at N24, I really enjoy his partnership with Kate in the mornings! It really adds life to the channel at a time of day where they can generally afford to be slightly more lighthearted, and they're also both good at reading the news.
If Dermot moved to the 6 or the 10, I'd like to see Bill presenting Breakfast during the week alongside Natasha, Sian or Mishal. Perhaps Michael Peschardt could do the weekends - I agree he's very good. But he's probably more than happy to stay in Sydney. If I recall correctly he's been there for years and years already - it obviously can't be a bad gig!

Is Bill Turnbull presently in South Africa covering Blair's visit? Reason I ask is that the Gulf News here in Dubai had a front-page foto of Blair and Mandela, with what appeared to be a very definite Bill Turnbull in the background.
Anyone able to confirm?

I have to say I really miss the Tanya Beckett era - she was truly fantastic. Maybe after the demise of itv newschannel we will see a return of Jon Nicolson or Andrew Harvey to Breakfast?
However at the moment - my favourite pairing has to be Simon and Mishal - Almost as good as the Simon and Kay Sunrise era

Oh yes definately John Nicolson, he really is fantastic. However, I'd rather have Simon and Kate on Breakfast, they pair up so very well, as they have done in the past and on News24.

To be fair I'd keep Michael and Kate on the programme as they both seem to get on well, their interviewing technique is good and they can be lighthearted when needed but serious on the news issues (unlike Dermot for instance who tends to be too formal and serious for the programme).
I also like the way that Michael goes out of the studio (twice in four days) to conduct an interview as well, this something a little different.
Nice use of cameras I thought with Andi Peters live in Albert Square. Reminded me somewhat of when Nicki Chapman used to go to a National Trust property for the last half hour of the programme on a Friday back in (IIRC) 2004.

Is that something we really want to be reminded of? As I remember it was tedious in the extreme, and such an Alan Partridge programme idea.

I thought it was quite interesting though it wasn't really suitable to say that Breakfast is meant to be a news programme. Despite this, it did offer a bit of variety to a ridiculously long entertainment section.
I would still cut Breakfast back to 9.00 personally with just the last half hour on entertainment.
