Don't forget that Dermot is sitting in for George on the six at the moment. So if George is still off next week either Dermot or Bill will be covering there.

According to RT, George is back on the Six all next week. So if Dermot and Bill are both on holidays, why is Simon McCoy not covering? What's the point of having him if they don't use him? He is a legend after all . . . Cool

Because he's got his own shift now on BBC News 24.

Naturally, and rightly so. But if he is supposed to be the 'third' Breakfast male anchor, then surely he should move up to Breakfast and someone else (e.g. Julian Worricker) would cover 0900-1300 on N24? Not that I'm knocking Michael Peschardt's abilities . . .

Maybe Michael wanted to do it?

Yes, he has been in Australia since the late 80s and perhaps he wants to come home (or the BBC want him to). Anyway, here's his profile, which used to appear on the Breakfast website. bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/breakfast/presenters/2088144.stm

Mike Peschardt was a regular on Breakfast, usually covering for Jeremy Bowen twice a year in three-week blocks, IIRC, whilst the latter was on vacation or, ocassionally, anchoring or covering a major overseas story.

Mike's return to Breakfast will also herald the reunion of the old Moira Stuart and Michael Peschardt partnership!! The two used to religiously present the BBC News and Sport on BBC1 every Saturday evening back in the early to late 80's, until Mike was transferred back to Oz.

As far as I know, he chose to go to Australia. He doesn't seem to do that much work for the BBC, or am I missing him somewhere?

What you see on TV or hear on Radio will only be a small part of what he does in Sydney. Like any journalist anywhere, he will spend time researching stories, chasing up leads, monitoring what's going on.

With Australia being so far away, the nature of news dictates that only the very biggest Australian stories will make the bulletins here in the UK. But remember, he might be broadcasting on BBC World, or on other BBC channels.

Whatever, I'm sure he does plenty of work! Working for a foreign news bureau, wherever it is, must be far from a lazy occupation!

As a completely different topic, don't you think Breakfast should really have a revamp? Same titles (except the music) since 2000!

Maybe they'll update the titles when they start sharing a set with the 1,6 and 10.

That's what I would anticipate though to be fair the Breakfast titles are my favourite out of the lot of BBC news titles and don't seem to have dated that much.

Bring back Bowen, Raworth, Bonnet and Beckett!!

The programme is starting to lose it's former sparkle. Revolving door syndrome.

I have noticed the return of the Breakfast mugs - a nice addition to the set I think.
