I think the plan will be Ray Stubbs will replace Steve Ryder, and Rob Bonnet will replace Ray Stubbs, thats the way it has worked in the past, when the lead prenenter leaves.

I actually thought I was hallucinating this morning at 7am.

Breakfast's top story was about Boy George being arrested (but later released) in New York for possession of a small amount of cocaine - not even enough for a chance of him being sent to prison.

The second story was all about migrants from Morocco crossing the "border" into Spain - complete with pictures of people climbing over a big fence, and no mention of the large amount of sea between the two countries. The reporter was Chris Morris, and the whole report sounded like it had been put together by his 'Brass Eye' namesake.

Whilst the scale of the earthquake clearly hadn't become clear at that point, surely it should have been higher up the running order than fourth story.

Sorry for having to correct you. They crossed the border to the Spanish enclave Melilla which is on the Asian continent. Therefore there is no sea to be crossed.

Sorry to have to correct you (!). Melilla is on the African continent!

Either way, the report explained the situation extremely badly, and seemed a bizarre choice for a second story.

Because Sian is the duty cover for the six. When Sophie leaves, Tasha will step up as the duty presenter.
When Sian moved to presenter Jane Hill (AFAIK) became the duty cover.

Not sure why she missed Thursday and Friday, although Friday is usually her day off, and my viewing time...
But the pictures of her in The Mirror this week have been less than flattering...To say the least!

Anyway is there any news yt on who'll cover for Tash when she's off playing serious newsreader?

Well, I think that it will be Bill and Sian taking the lead on Breakfast for a while, giving Dermot chance to get on the 10 more (considering Fiona usually takes a few weeks off over Nov-Feb) with Simon and Kate taking the cover.

I therefore presume that we are in for cover presenters over on N24 then whenever Simon and Kate present, which should be Fri - Sun every week.
I'd have personally thought that Jon Sopel would have moved to Breakfast on Mon-Thur with him doing the Politics Show as he seems to work well on Breakfast.

Well Simon is due to present on News24 from Mon-Fri, Kate is due to present on News 24 on Monday - Thursday. The problem they will have is on Fridays, as Tim Willcox and Julian Worricker are both on later in the day, one on the 1600 - 1900 and one on the 2300-0100. This Friday they had Ben Geoeghan on the 9-1 - I think both him and Stephen Cole will be making more appearances over the coming months to cover the holes in the schedules, unless they introduce another more regular cover presenter.

And Bill might be off for a while doing Strictly Come Dancing.
