I was in London for 24 hours on Saturday on one of my rare visits, and watched Breakfast on Saturday morning with Bill Turnbull and, whom I presume was, Kate Silverton.
Although I have read you guys going on about Kate for quite some time on this forum, I have never actually seen her presenting.
However, I have to say she was very good. Credible and gravitas when needed, but also light and funny when the moment demanded it. Her banter with Bill and the Sports Presenter at one point was not unlike three friends having a laugh at the office, and it was nice to watch.
Visually reminds me a little bit of Kaplinsky though (the Newscaster, not the Forum Member.....................)
I don't know about anyone else, but I think that Dermot and Sian seem to get on much better than he does with Natasha. They always seem to be smiling at each other; and what's more they seem real, not forced.
Just got next week's
RT
: an exciting one for Breakfast!
Simon + Susanna are on Saturday and Sunday (She'll probably give birth live on the programme!)
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday: it's Bill in the studio and Natasha in Kenya (as part of the BBC's
Africa Lives
season).
Wednesday: Sian in the studio, Natasha in Kenya and Dermot in Singapore (for the decision for who will host the 2012 Olympics).
Friday: Sian in the studio and Bill at the G8 Summit.
Also, all of next week there is a Second World War series "Britain At War: The Road To Victory", presented by Huw Edwards, with Sophie Raworth and Darren Jordon, from various locations...
As great as Sian is, she sometimes goes a bit over the top. She sometiems adds a bit too much to say instead of getting on with it.
Still, she seems a very friendly person so thats probably why!
Surely with next weeks programming they will just not bother with Moira and instead have the one presenter in the studio reading the news. They have done that before - the Pope's death IIRC.
Probably just a mistake but this week's Radio Times seems to suggest that Bill is co-presenting from Helsinki on Wednesday. It says something like "All the latest from the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki with Bill Turnbull, and Natasha Kaplinsky back on the sofa in London". Any ideas anyone?
