Look East finished as normal, returning to the London studio and then the weather with Carol. Didn't watch beyond then though.

Cock-up at the end of the 8.55am update in the NE & Cumbria, the presenter said goodbye, then a wide shot of the studio stayed on for a minute or two. Did this happen to any other regions or a local fault?

Then it cut into Carol Kirkwood's national weather forecast about half way through. When the closing ident played, you could hear her say 'thanks Jimbo!'

Same happened in Yorkshire.

Some interesting camera angles used this morning during the interview with Andy McNab in order not to show his face. I notice Bill & Shaun had moved to sit by the corner of the studio.

There was another angle which showed the back of his head with Bill & Shaun's faces, presumably possible due to where there were sitting.

They hadn't moved - they were in their usual positions.

Always nice to see Alex Deakin early in the morning.

He should replace that annoying Scottish woman on a permanent basis.

What on earth were they up to this morning, in the 'on site' studio at the Labour conference in Manchester ? Only one camera (deliberate or technical failure ?) that kept on crabbng and zooming back and forth between Sian and her interviewees. Looked utter crap and totally naff.

They've used the same technique on the Daily Politics when doing Andrew Neil's interviews in the conference hall for the LibDems and Labour.

It's quite irritating. A simple two camera set-up would surely avoid the need for the motion sickness causing the regurgitation of either breakfast or lunch.

I appreciate that a single camera angle is boring after a while, but to continually swing round the table, back and forth - with no reference to what is being said or who is saying it, is pointless!

Don't know what the Labour conference hall was like, but in the Lib Dem hall there wasn't an awful lot of width to play with given the Daily Politics and News 24 positions were quite close to each other. Not sure they would have fitted 3 cameras wide in the space!

Who the hell is Shaun. That's a bloke's name, pronounced as in Sean Connery! I think you mean Sian, pronounced Sharn.

Sian is off on maternity leave again soon.

Selina Scott is being touted as a temporary replacement presenter.

Interesting rumour. Selina was on great form for the 25th anniversary show a little while back. Be interesting to see how she took to the more "continuous news" nature of TV production these days.
