But Breakfast from N6 at a weekend could still have the regular weekday backdrop and that would unify the weekend and weekday programmes.

The backdrop wouldn't make it look like the weekday programme though if they are desk bound. Probably better to keep the look different, although perhaps they could call it Breakfast Weekend (it used to be called Weekend 24 at one time).

Wasn't Weekend 24 just a one hour programme at 9, and Breakfast still existed at weekends?

When Breakfast came along in Autumn 2000, didnt the saturday edition become Weekend 24 from 6-9am, replacing the old 8am hour long News24 version?...then in '02/'03 they added an extra hour on saturdays, and the 9am hour became Weekend 24, with 6-9 as just plain old Breakfast.

Oh, and thanks to jamej for the upload!

Also, what made somebody think it was a good idea giving Chris Hollins another go at presenting the main programme?

What's wrong with him?

Poor Chris had a coughing fit during the 6:35am sports bulletin. Bill and Sian took over for the first couple of sports items. I'm not sure if they were aware the camera cut back to them however you could see Sian reading one item whilst Chris mimed reading it, followed by him briefly lying on the sofa. He then proceeded with reading the rest of the bulletin.

Unfortunately my capture card was switched off at the time, as it was a rather amusing shot.

Declan Curry is leaving Breakfast and moving to Working Lunch, as reported elsewhere.

Adam Shaw is swapping places and taking over from Declan.

The Sports presenters are taking over news this morning. First Louise Michin and Chris Hollings presenting Breakfast, then Simon McCoy and Sue Thearle on News 24.

Does this mean that Declan will be joining the Today programme. Or will either Adam retain this or they revert back to a seperate reporter?

Thearle has left sport to join news...but they are both cringe making in their new roles!

I can't stand Chris Hollins, he's just plain awful.

He was presenting again this morning, with Louise Minchin.

I personally have not seen him on TV, but from YouTube clips, he looks really annoying and sounds it too.

Although there are several similarities, presenting sports bulletins can be quite different from presenting straight news, as was also demonstrated last week on CNN, when sports reporter Don Riddell was a stand-in news anchor on CNN Today.

The whole mood and delivery style can be very different between news and sports, and that's probably why some of the sports presenters seem to struggle with it in the beginning.

But like everything else, practice makes perfect, and I am sure that Sue and Chris will be top rate news presenters very soon. I wish them well and I personally quite like Sue Thearle's style of presentation.
