Sue Thearle left the programme today to go 'upstairs and present the news' so looks like we will be seeing her on the News Channel shortly.

The usual montage of clips was shown (it looks like she hasn't changed a bit since she first started to do the sport!) and Susannah Reid followed it by saying she'd join Sue for a pint or three after the programme.

Anyone manage to cap that? Trying to think...how long has she been there...certainly since it was Breakfast News....I'm reckoning approx 10 years then?

Sorry if this has already been asked.
But why does Breakfast not use the desk in TC7?

I think they said 13.

Breakfast changed the format of the programme a few months before they moved out of N6. They stopped using the desk and presented the whole programme from the sofa, so I assume it's nothing to do with the move back to TC7.

It's an odd state of affairs though, since their weekend programmes, which should presumably have a more relaxed feel, are entirely from the desk.

I think there are less staff working on the weekend so just keep them all in the N6 gallery.

When I asked a few weeks ago, someone (peterocket I think?) said it was due to management wanting to unify the BBC News brand more, rather than having a different background in the weekend mornings.

Is the desk on the opposite side of the studio there permanently? If so, that might be a factor?

I prefer it all sofa bound though - the way they used to decide where links where done from seemed to be very random.

Well on weekdays it's always there - but they do remove it on Sunday for the Politics Show.

But Breakfast from N6 at a weekend could still have the regular weekday backdrop and that would unify the weekend and weekday programmes.

The backdrop wouldn't make it look like the weekday programme though if they are desk bound. Probably better to keep the look different, although perhaps they could call it Breakfast Weekend (it used to be called Weekend 24 at one time).

Wasn't Weekend 24 just a one hour programme at 9, and Breakfast still existed at weekends?

Sure, Breakfast would look a bit different behind a desk, even with the same backdrop used all week, I just think it might give better continuity.

Also, what made somebody think it was a good idea giving Chris Hollins another go at presenting the main programme?

If Bill and Charlie are confirmed as the regular weekday and weekend presenters (I assume this is the case, but has it ever been made official?), they really need to do something about getting a better stand in. Oh, and given that Sonia Deol appears to be the favoured weekend stand in for the Susanna, they could do with finding a new female one, too.
