That sunset never was used on screen, only in a behind the scenes video, which is a shame.
I don't think it was the clouds that made it 'cold' but the blue backdrop normally used. The current one is uninspired and boring - they should give another design a go! Maybe for January? Here's hoping!
I've hated the currenty one from Day One! It's looks so poor. If you watch the video on TV Newsroom, they showed a clouds background, but with an effect on it similar to Sky News' newswall - I wonder if that would look good full time?
The idea was that the clouds 'evolve' through the stages of Sunrise, starting off dark and orange (6am) to bright and blue (9am).
But they never used this - initially of course because the look was launched at the time of year when it was already daylight at 6am. By the time dawn
was
breaking during the programme they seemed to have forgotten about this idea, and still showed the blue sky and clouds.

No dawn actually never broke during the clouds era, during the programme, as it was relaunched in May and the clouds only lasted a couple of weeks, at which point the orange era was upon us.

Of course, you're right now I think about it. Head's all over the place today.
Is Nick Owen really a candidate to take over on Breakfast? Surely not! While he would be great, I think he has too much gravitas to do something as light as breakfast...
Unless Bill was mon-thurs, Nick friday-sunday with Charlie the main relief all week...
Good luck to Dermot in his new career (though he was a bit dull on Breakfast wasn't he?!)
Yes, Dermot was far better at ITN. He's more suited to a serious news bulletin (with regards to ITN, I'm talking about News at Ten and Channel 4 News, as opposed to ITV News post-1999!) rather than a breakfast programme. I guess we'll never know if Dermot was offered any other BBC bulletin, but he would have been better sharing the Ten O'Clock News with Huw. He hasn't been suited to Breakfast since day one.
