It's unbelievable how awful that looks. What's with all the silly spotlights? Looks like a cross between a fairground ride and (as I believe has been said before) like a East European dentist waiting room.

Rubbish. That was the best look Breakfast has ever had. Far better than the modified version with a split sofa and plant pots they adopted around the time of Dermot's arrival. Clean, professional, the plants behind the window made it warmer and it was a great take on the corporate look.

Add to that it had the three distinct presentation areas plus the news desk. Extremely versatile and the fact they had two excellent presenters at the time as well as a very good news/feature balance made it pretty much perfect in my eyes.

I agree with all of the above and the 2002-2003 set was the dentist wating room! not this one. That was a proper set not just a grey floor with a bunch of screens and a auful sofa Exclamation

I liked that set. It fitted in with the corporate news look, yet was somewhat informal at the same time. I find the current look rather bland and I'm really tired of the fact that none of the screens line up (geometrically speaking, not technically).

I've got to say, I prefer that set as well - the current set is cold and lifeless. As I've said with regards to the main news presentation - the current set is more technically advanced, yes, but it isn't as nice to look at. Especially not first thing in the morning.

How on earth are you supposed to take a news programme seriously with tacky looking snowflakes in the background?

With the way 'Breakfast' is going I don't think they want to be taken seriously anymore. They're desperate to be GMTV.

I agree that the snowflakes aren't good, but on the other hand I quite like the tree.

Also, according to the Radio Times Bill Turnbull's presenting on Christmas Day again! I wonder what they'd do if he wouldn't come in one year. Susanna Reid is on New Years Day, and Charlie Stayt on Boxing Day.

What a good looking set that was. It's formal with the large newsdesk yet still had a certain air of informality with the colours and the plants, which was just right for a morning programme. I personally preferred the set after with the split sofa and plant pots as it still followed the corporate look and came across as newsy although still with an informal feel when required. It was also good as it filled the studio space and was versatile enough for all items, not like the current set which has masses of bare space and two separate areas for different types of studio.

I also liked the screens they used to illustrate the story (and also to play out the titles). A nice touch that unfortunately disappeared.

Not as much as they used to. I think they only have the one tree so if they presented from the desk the tree wouldn't be present.

They were using the sofa from 0600 on Friday as well and the tree hadn't gone up then.

I just think that they've decided that the desk doesn't work that well for whatever reason and try to use the sofa as often as possible, in the same way that they have abandoned standing at the start of the Six.
