With Demot's departure less than a month away, you'd think we'd get word on a replacement on the couch. Should we assume that the fact that nothing's been announced, they have their sights set on somebody and that this doesn't bode well for Billl?

Surely the lack of announcement so far would indicate Bill rather than an outsider? If they'd poached someone from outside the BBC then they'd make a big song and dance about it. If it is an internal promotion it would most likely just get a press release on the BBC website prior to the event.

I think if it was an outsider we'd have got a press release by now, as when Nicholas Owen defected to the BBC we got one about two or three months before he actually first appeared on News 24.

As much as I like Bill, I would love to see Simon McCoy become the main man on Breakfast. He'd well suit the role, and it would open up his regular relief on 6 o'clock maybe.

SIMON FOR THE RED SOFA!!!!

I doubt the new Mrs McCoy would agree with your enthusiasm there! Him doing Breakfast in London and her doing Spotlight in Plymouth - they'd never see each other (except on the TV!!!! Shocked Shocked )

But Simon's already in London during the week for News 24, so it wouldn't make any difference if he did Breakfast instead would it? Confused

With Kate off Breakfast for good... Who could be in running? Louise? Susannah seems to be happy with her role, having 3 kids as well.

Place your bets?

I'm fairly sure it will be Louise as main cover, maybe backed up by Jules when she returns from maternity leave.

She might not be off for good, but she'll be appearing much less often as she's been confirmed as the 8pm bulletin presenter.

She's been confirmed as the presenter of the new 8pm bulletin, so you could assume from that. I mean, she'd hardly likely to get up do Breakfast, do the One, get back for the 8pm then get home to bed for Breakfast.

I'd hate for Louise to get it that's for sure -not a fan.

And poor Jane Hill - incredible she didn't get the One when Sophie goes on maternity leave.

When are Breakfast getting their Christmas decorations out? IIRC a year or two ago they brought them out early as viewers complained GMTV had theirs but Breakfast didn't.

Do they put the tree up in News 24 for the weekend editions of Breakfast, and take it down afterwards, or does the tree only appear on News 24 in the few days of Christmas?

Just because someone is on air at 8pm does not necessarily mean the same person cannot do a Breakfast show.

Anne MacKenzie used to host Good Morning Scotland from 6am on Radio Scotland as well as present Reporting Scotland at 6.30pm. Doesn't Nicky Campbell not present Breakfast on Five Live then do Watchdog...granted once a week, but it does shows that it can be done!

Personally, I would like Louise Minchin to get a chance but I am happy that Kate is getting more prominent roles with the BBC and if her face does fit at the moment they'll be getting her to do as much as possible.
