I personally thought the cream and red era around 2003, with the sofa, large news desk and the flowers, was the best time of Breakfast as it came across as more informative and a substantial news prgramme but with a lighter entertainment side after 08.30. Ever since the set changed to that grey and red I think Breakfast has lost some of its edge on the news.
oh that will be interesting maybe that's why he's off this week. it would be interesting to see paddy oconnell present - i think he's quite funny.
Paddy should present definitely - but I reckon either they'd tell him to behave and he'd look like he was just reading autocue or he would be himself and p*ss off some viewers! Still it could do with a bit of spice, right?
This morning's Breakfast (you can see why they dropped News from the title) featured an item at 8.25 on how old women are dressing young.

Ok so this IS fluffy, but who wants serious news whilst they are trying to wake up, stuffing some toast and tea down them before they dash to work? for a start bugger all has happened or been reported since the 10 and Newsnight the night before. I reckon Breakfast get it just right, a nice balance of 'serious news' but with the 'lifestyle news' on the other hand.

Couldn't disagree more. If you want to smile in the morning, listen to Chris Moyles or Wogan, watch GMTV or some comedy channel.
I want news in the morning and there isn't a single channel other than Sky News that provides this.
The argument that "nothing has happened" is ridiculous. Should then Ten do fashion items if nothing has happened since Breakfast!!!?
