Good Heavens! I know I complained over on the BBC World Thread about Jonathan Charles "shouting" the news, but this clip shown on Breakfast takes the biscuit.

dose anyne think the show should be axed on sunday because its pointless having it if it is only availible on news 24(unless your up between 6 and 6.35 to se it on BBC1)I thought the whole reson of the weekday show to end at 8.30 was that people could have a choice rolling news or breakfast,so why on sunday is that compleatley reversed so that we can only really se it on n24 personally i think the sow would attract more viewers to bbc1 if it was shown through untill 9
most of the people watching the show want rolling news

No Breakfast should not be axed on a Sunday. Match of the Day is not on every weekend, and Breakfast provides consistency. Weekend Breakfast used to only be on News 24, but then BBC 1 decided to introduce the programme, a few months later. From a couple of weeks time Breakfast will be on BBC 1 on a Sunday from 6 -9.

At 8 o'clock in the morning I want a nice, easy summary of the morning's news - with a relaxed and warm presentation style....
Now, I wonder which programme can offer that?
I suppose, on an industry level at least, it also provides consistency to the schedules. Oh, and let's be honest - what ever happens on a Sunday morning?
No, I think Breakfast best serves the purpose on News 24 on Sunday mornings. There is frankly no need to rush into rolling news (during the daytime it often struggles with that concept) and showing Breakfast provides a consistent and mildly pleasing start to the day.
I know this sounds like a stupid question, but why doesn't
Breakfast
use N6 at the weekends? I know that on Sunday it has to be used for the news round-up on
Sunday AM
- but I thought the whole point of the 'flexible' studio was that its backdrop could be changed quickly and easily. If
Breakfast
came from the sofa end while the newsreader got ready on the other end, as soon as
Breakfast
ended the background could be changed and voíla! An instant
Sunday AM
news bulletin.
good point but i cant see why F1 followed by a reapeat of mach of the day is needed on BBC1,breakfast would definitley attract more viewers if it was on through untill 9

It would mean bringing in a second crew to staff N6, It saves cost. N6 is not used for the Sunday AM news bulletins. They come from a CSO screen in the Sunday AM studio itself.
i agree with you however beging in N6 at weekends woul put costs up.they could do it from N6 from the desk only with there normal backdrop and graphics but they would have to use newsnights desk even thought it is not in N6 because they might need to interview a lot of geusts
the alternitive is to move part of the sofa in to N8s pod, breakfast should also use the same graphics all week and get rid of BBC NEWS tower which i think is pintless having

I'm sorry but I cannot follow your logic there. David kindly told you that doing Breakfast from N6 at weekends would mean employing a separate N6 crew, so regardless of whether they're using the sofa, the desk or even a folding table, they still need a crew for N6.

BTW, there was a very nice "behind the scenes" report on Breakfast which I recorded purely by chance after leaving for work
(I was aiming for the report on the Junior Doctor/MTAS debacle as it's my job! - I don't normally leave Sky+ running).
I'll transfer it to MP11 and stick it on here in a bit. It's quite good.
