I have to say that I think that Breakfast has gradually worsened ever since the May 2006 relaunch. I think that idea of such a massive studio gives out the wrong impression (the previous looked and felt much more warm and 'cosy' on a morning when you've just woken up) and I think that the level of presenters has significantly plumeted - although I think both Charlie Stayt and Kate Silverton are good journalists and newscasters, they give a less welcoming feel to Breakfast, and I just cannot stand Susanna Reid - I find her patronising and boring.

I much prefer weekend Breakfast with Bill from the News 24 set - both give a more welcoming feel - and the whole thing about regularly switching from desk to sofa during weekday sends mixed messages: is the program a news show, an entertaiment resource or a show with a producer who can't decide.

I still say bring back Mishal Husain, or if necessary, Natasha Kaplinsky - I feel she did Breakfast proud. Dermot needs to leave, but Bill and Sian are both very, very good - one of the only things about breakfast.

Oh, and some of the content is crappy too - just thought I'd add that.

Breakfast was at it's best during the era of Bowen, Raworth, Stuart, Beckett and Bonnet.

This was also the time when it was partially presented from the newsdesk by the main anchors, and from the yellow sofa area for the latter segments.

It has gone downhill since then.

Or maybe, it's actually quite good especially with Sian Williams presenting with Dermot and the variety of news packages for an audience where they are in the process of waking up and 'starting' the day.

And maybe, the people who seem to dislike the program just want to keep their reputation as a typical British moaner? Yeah - that sounds about right.

I completely take your point about the set. It's just not soft and inviting enough. Having said that, I always thought the previous set was awful as well - too white, and with that silly random backdrop of the British Airways Headquarters. Sunday AM shows that they can add a few bits in to the generic news sets to make them a bit more welcoming.

As for presenters, Kaplinsky leaving the programme is IMHO the single biggest improvement to the programme in the last few years. I always found her frosty, unfriendly and awkward when it came to interacting with her co-hosts.

Dermot has a bit more warmth about him, but is still fairly dull and uncharismatic.

Bill is great - relaxed and natural, as is Sian, and yes, they make a great pairing. I'm also a fan of Kate. She can actually be a very good interviewer, and she's not averse to a bit of a giggle with her co-host.

Content-wise, I don't find it too bad, although I usually get to see the earlier, newsier part of the programme before 7.30. When I've caught the later bits after 8.30 I have found it a bit fluffy and banal at times, although at least now you have the choice of News 24 from 8.30.

Yes and have you noticed that that's when Kaplunky and DermoT invaded...

Now although I can't stand Natasha and think she should go to L!ve TV or something similar I do think DermoT is a very capable presenter/journalist but is not suited to Breakfast - ie when he had to say "sexy" in one story this morning he hesitated and Bill at the weekend had the same sort of story said it with ease.

I think We should get Bill in place of DermoT (shove him on the Six and let Georgey boy do both WNTs on World), let Charlie take over Bill (he's getting used to Breakfast now IMO), and put Simon McCoy on as thrid male presenter.

Keep the females and set as they/it are/is and update the graphics.

Noticed Dermot this morning because of his unusual shift pattern . Breakfast Monday and then the 10 o clock and then breakfast again today.

But it was Bill and Sian yesterday for Breakfast.

I feel that Breakfast was better around 2000/2001. The studio looked perfect and provided a much warmer welcome than the set we have now.

BBC made a mistake in making Breakfast use the studio that is used for other BBC News productions. They should have a seperate one, much smaller.

I wonder how Breakfast and other BBC News programmes will look when they move (eventually) to the new BBC News Complex at Broadcasting House. Does anyone have any ideas?

Breakfast does not suit the Nationals studio. It doesn't have a shape if you know what I mean, and its not cosy and welcoming for a morning news programme. The old set was better.

Well at first Breakfast looked brilliant in the nationals' studio, with the blue cloudy background providing a perfect contrast to the orange graphics. But then they complained it was 'too cold' and changed it to that dreadful clash of milky white and dark orange they have now.

I love the idea of clouds and especially as they changed throughout the morning. Thought it was a wonderful idea - new and innovative. Alas, it seems there were a sizeable majority who didn't see it that way...

For me the only gripe I have is the irregularity between the desk and sofa. I'd like to see it start from the desk everyday and then make their way over to the sofa at some point.

You've got to admit Susanna Reid is pretty to look at!
