You know, I don't know why you tune in to Breakfast. If you dislike it so much, why not watch something else? Every day you seem to have some complaint about the programme.

I would suggest that Prime Minister tunes into GMTV if he wants his 'news' fix Laughing

Well we don't make the program, do we? I presume it was to waken the program abit for the morning viewers, "hey, that's a nice view.." and to a serious note that in the building down below Gordon Brown is announcing the budget. Declan does the business, doesn't he? So why not. You seem to slag the program off regually, don't watch it. Stop being the average British moaner.

Edit: You don't seem to like the BBC at all. 'scrap the license fee' - very cynical aren't you? Don't use BBC1 or any of the BBC channels if you don't think you should have to pay to watch it..

If I remember correctly Declan was on the Eye last year for the budget. He pointed out a number of important buildings in relation to the budget.

He was indeed, and was also there a couple of weeks ago (although I don't remember what that was for). It's nice that they let him out of that studio at the LSE every so often.

In response to comments a little earlier in the thread, I believe the current format of Breakfast works with a good mix of everything you want in the morning. The first half hour of each hour is full of news with analysis as well as business and weather updates. Then the back half hour contains a full sport and business update with more analysis of the main news stories. For those that grumble about these lighter features, there's only one just before the regional news at 06.55 and then from 08.30, which constitutes as the entertainment news. IMO Breakfast provides a round-up of everything that you need in a morning.

However there are a few problems that I feel could be improved on:

The first is the scheduling as I think Breakfast worked better going from 06.00-09.00 with the last half hour as 08.30 - News, 08.35 - Sport, 08.40 - Entertainment (with weather at 08.45), 08.55 - Regional News, 08.58 - Headlines, 08.59 - Emails and close. I thought this schedule ensured that the entertainment section wasn't overdone and provided a good, concise closing. Now I feel the 09.00 TOTH is disjointed and loses the pace of the programme.

The only other big problem is the use of presenters on location. This is seen with the business - let's say on the budget day, Declan provided us with information about the budget but because he was out on location we didn't get the latest on the markets or other news. I really think they should use presenters on location for analysis but I think they should draft someone else in to cover in the studio.

A good morning programme though.

I agree with Bail - why was she wearing safety gear in inches of water?

I do wonder about some of these postings Wink
Health and Safety no doubt.
Broadcasters are very touchy about these things however daft it may look.
Interestingly the reporter doing the Cycling Proffency item later was riding a bike without a safety helmet (There was only one child wearing one) which shows a curious double standard on safety issues.
