Louise Minchin, does 2-5 on News 24 with Jon Sopel.
Perhaps she's looking "grumpy" (I'd call it serious) because they're reading the news. A happy smiley face isn't really appropriate when you're talking about the murder of three innocent young women.

Absoloutely awful attempt of Christmas at Breakfast!!
Oh I don't know. I think it looks rather nice. News 24 should put a tree up.

Does Breakfast normally get Christmassy this early? I thought previously the tree went up about a week before.
Incidentally, did anyone else catch the 7.15 weather this morning when a gust of wind in the BP garden blew the light over? Just as Helen W was talking about strong winds, there was a rush of wind, a big smashing sound and then she was plunged into darkness.
Someone in the gallery must have panicked at that point and removed the weather map from on screen. Declan commented after that you know it's windy when even the map gets blown away.

From Media Monkey last Thursday:
BBC decks the halls, finally
There are strict rules about taking down Christmas decorations (January 5, 12th night), but when to put them up is a thornier debate. Back in Charles Dickens' day, Christmas Eve was not just a time for last-minute shopping, but last-minute decorating too. But that date has crept earlier and earlier. BBC Breakfast had been planning to leave their tinsel and tree until 18 December. But GMTV, already into the Christmas spirit, left their BBC rivals looking a bit bah humbug. A deluge of viewer texts, calls and emails has forced the BBC into a rethink and Christmas will now officially start for Dermot and Kate on Monday. The Daily Mail, of course, trumpets this move as a victory for the viewers over political correctness at the BBC.

It's never too early in December to start decorating. I though they left it quite late.

I think they've picked the right time; not too early, not too late. And I like the christmas decorations - not too over the top!
I felt GMTV were a bit too early though!
News 24 normally do, but not until about Christmas Eve from what I can remember, and it's normally just in the backdrop:

Breakfast's tree is very tasteful and coordinating with their decor, something their guests were very impressed with at 9.05 this morning!
It has to be said that (although it isn't as noticable with the orangey backdrop) the tree hides the corner of the screens rather well!

I thought that. Shame there isn't something there all year round - a big plant, or maybe they could bring back the notorious red Breakfast vases.

They were hookers, actually. "Innocent young women" paints a slightly different picture.
Nonetheless, a horrible news story.
