Yes, I have to agree Rob. The programme just isn't the same as it used to be.........

Apparently viewing figures have plummeted since I left.......Morning to You!

It appears that Louise Minchin is becoming one of Breakfast's regular presenters. She was on again this morning, whereas I would have expected Susanna Reid on. It's not a bad thing IMO though as Louise is a strong newsreader, has a good interviewing technique and is able to have a bit of banter as well.

Does Breakfast still come from the N24 studios at the weekend?

Yes, it does, James. It only comes from N6 during the week.

And as they've admitted they've been trying to take Breakfast down a 5 Live route she's a good choice as she's done so much work on 5 Live.

Well it is paying off in the ratings, they have stolen GMTV's crown as being Britains most watched Breakfast Show.

No they haven't. GMTV has been ahead every week since the start of September

It's fascinating IMO that during July and August, when Bill Turnbull was presenting Breakfast almost every day, the programme was ahead in the ratings. Then bring on September and the return of Dermot Murnaghan, and the programme's ratings fall. Mere coincidence I wonder?

I still maintain that Dermot, while a relatively competent news presenter, is not suited to the style of Breakfast.

Why don't they put Dermot & Natasha back together on the 6 permantly?

Breakfast came under a bit of a beating from Points of View today saying that it had become steadily more fluffier. Now I thought if anything it's got more newsier than anything since the rebrand but still contains a fair few light-hearted, and somewhat irrelevant, stories. It definitely hasn't got any worse, or am I just missing something?

I personally think the last time it was a strong news programme was back in 2002/2003 with the cream and red era where there was only a few entertainment stories throughout the programme, probably helped by the fact that it finished at 09.00. Saying that, the outbreak of the Iraq War certainly helped with a strong news programme in the morning.

They have the past two Fridays IIRC and should permanently IMO. However if Dermot goes then we would permanently have Charlie Stayt at weekends, and I've still not really warmed to him.

Actually, it's to do with audience. GMTV's audience (young families, mums, kids)go on holiday over the summer, and return in September for school.
Breakfast was ahead, becasue the old and the infirm haven't learnt how to change the channel off '1' yet.

I still believe that's absolute crap. Why anyone would choose to watch GMTV is beyond me. I wouldn't insult my intelligence by tuning into it. In fact, I don't even watch Breakfast. I watch either BBC WORLD or CNN International at that time. At least with those channels you get a good, detailed round-up of the world's news. However, in my opinion, Breakfast is the best of a bad bunch.
