Hopefully we'll get a lot of good clips tomorrow, anyone hooked up to Hotbird?!

And if any clips appear in 16:9 tomorrow with more than 225 lines resolution I'll know you have grabbed them inside Egton Very Happy

I suspect that the full music probably has a bit too much of a "Middle Eastern" feel about it to be rolled out domestically... (Imagine a Middle Eastern Eurovision song entry...)

If you are comparing the Arabic music to a Eurovision song, then on behalf of the Arabic Service I'll cast an evil look in your general direction next time I'm at W12.

(although this may be difficult given I don't know who you are or where you work) Smile

Well I think most people here would think this is a shame as the BBC Arabic graphics look very very good - as opposed to what we've heard about the LM branding which is 'mostly grey'!!! Rolling Eyes

Also ironic that BBC News graphics have never created anything this good for BBC News! Laughing

Have to agree entirely. I've always thought the internally produced stuff of recent years was rubbish compared to the 1999 titles, but the BBC's own graphic designers have really come up trumps this time. I'd be surprised to see LN live up to these. They're gorgeous! It's a shame they won't be seen domestically.

Scroll down to the panel with a number of icons with play triangles on them and click the red icon (which looks a bit like the "Watch News 24 live" button - the one in the middle with the BBC Arabic logo shows the headlines it seems.

*aha* cheers Nicky. I'd clicked the TV thing at the top and was only getting press releases.

The ticker is rather stunning, the clock has just done a little spin when it reached the end of the headlines. Makes News 24 look very simplistic.

Out of interest, does arabic use vizrt like the rest of news?

AIUI BBC Arabic, like News 24, World, Sky, CNN and nearly every other news channel, are using VizRT - which is basically a high-spec PC with a broadcast friendly video card (with SDI key and fill - or HD-SDI if you're running in HD - outputs). It can do 3D modelling internally with some basic rendering, or you can feed it animated sequences rendered elsewhere and generate the text live and tie it to the animation (if you can accurately match the motion of the animation).

Very nice music and TOTH sequence. I hope the revamped N24 has a similar standard of graphics.
