the director controlling BBC Arabic is doing a very good job today, he is letting the complete music end before going to the presenters shot, its all very good and sleek with BBC Arabic!
I think they should broadcast here as well.

They do, just not on Astra 2. Point a dish at 13E if you want to watch, or use the online streams.
At the risk of starting a whole number of different rumours, as of next year the World Service gets an extra ]£1 million a year to
so that might suggest that steps will be taken next year to make the language services more accessable within the UK.

Fans of the BBC Arabic graphics may want to look at Angus McKeown's website, who helped produce the BBC Arabic graphics along with Mike Afford. His website is http://www.angusmckeown.com/storyboards/storyboards.html.
He also did the Newsnight graphics. Take a look at the Storyboards for early ideas of the Newsnight and BBC Arabic graphics. These are astonishing!
Also, for excellent, high-quality Quicktime videos, go to the Projects page. 1.0 is BBC Arabic, and 3.0 is Newsnight. Check out the Showreel as well for other clips.
By the looks of things, this guy is excellent at graphic design. It's just a shame the Arabic graphics won't be on-screen for much longer, but I'm hoping that some elements will stay, as well as the music!

It's really astonishing that the globe and rings brand is going to be rolled out over the Arabic identity, I don't dislike the new BBC News identity, but the BBC Arabic stuff pis ses all over it in every respect, and really IMO the Arabic identity should have been modified and rolled out as the new BBC News identity.

The BBC World Service will close its Romanian language offering on August 1 after 68 years on the air.
The closure, which will save £1.3m per year, comes as part of a long-term plan to redirect money into the BBC Arabic and to-be-launched BBC Persian television services.
BBC Romanian broadcasts for approximately four hours per day on radio, but attracts only 3% of the local radio market in the country after FM network partner stations dropped the BBC's content after a series of mergers.
"Like the other European services we closed three years ago, BBC Romanian had its roots in the Second World War," said BBC World Service director Nigel Chapman. "It has served its audiences with distinction through the Communist era to the present day.
"The contribution of all BBC Romanian staff has been immense: serving Romanians with innovation and commitment for 68 years. The quality of the current output is of the highest standard.
"But Europe has changed, fundamentally, since the early nineties; and with the rapidly declining audiences in Romania we can no longer justify continuing the service.
"It is widely acknowledged that BBC Romanian's presence has contributed to the building of freedoms now enjoyed by Romania's citizens. We believe this will be a lasting legacy."
46 staff will be affected by the closure.

That's an interesting interpretation of the BBC Press Release by Digital Spy.
Every single area of the BBC has to make efficiency savings (3% annually IIRC). The Romanian service has been closed because of its declining audience to help the World Service to achieve these savings. Arabic and Persion TV services have already received additional funding from the FCO for the next 3 years and are not direct beneficiaries of this closure AFAIK.
