I hope the music remains, but with the new globe graphics. Oh and BBC Arabic and BBC Persian should get their own colours with the new BBC News globes...

That's a good mock, the fact that the BBC logo is alone in the red box actually makes it look good, this is why I think the BBC World News DOG looks really long and silly.

Does anyone know when Persian will launch?

Yes, they do (roughly).

No, they are not posting it here.

Can you give us a brief indication, e.g. season?

Don't harass him, please. Take the information you are given and be happy with it.

I'll only ever discuss here things regarding the beeb that are in the public domain, or can be inferred from public domain information. Contractually I cannot discuss anything else, sorry. It is a very fine line for me to tread, as a combination of my grade and the nature of my job means I get to know a lot about what is happening inside the World Service.

However, to answer your question from public domain sources...

In this news article it is suggested Persian TV will start a few months after Arabic in early 2008. The article was written when Arabic was due to start in Autumn 2007 - so maybe if you were to add to Persian the extra months between the planned Arabic launch and the the real start date of Arabic you would be close.

Also Dalet have put out a press release last week regarding the sale of their systems to the Persian channel 'that will be launched later this year'. Note that if they have only just purchased the playout system, it is going to take a while to install it then train everyone in how to use it.

Join the dots, and I'm sure you will be close. But I hope you understand I cannot confirm it. And any date could be pushed back if there are any problems in the run up to launch.

That should prompt an 'OK' and 'Group Hug' in normal circumstances! Bless!

I really hope that BBC Arabic doesn't turn into a clone of BBC World News. The Arabic graphics are probably the best the BBC have ever done.

i absolutely agree, it looks incredibly stunning, especially on television, I love how the squares animated into 3D BBC logo. Its such a shame that BBC News didn't take elements of this look.

Does anyone have any more information on Persian at the moment? Using the information other people have given on the thread, I make the launch to be in Autumn, round about October maybe.
