Oh, so only the '2nd storey' is virtual? Where's the smaller desk set with the gallery behind, is it to the right of the main set? Very Happy

The second studio and gallery are on the 4th floor - IIRC they are pretty much above where the radio studios are on the 3rd floor you see when the presenter walks to them at the end of Talking Point.

There genuinely is another floor of newsroom and studios on the floor above the main studio. But given the amount of equipment flown above a real studio you end up with a nicer effect superimposing the upper floor across the lighting grid than putting real windows in and trying find a good shot through the clutter in the air. The top of a real studio is never that tidy, and involves lots more lights.

Can somebody get a decent quality cap of the 'virtual' studio?

Any insiders able to get a photo of the studio without the 'virtual' second floor?

I thought BBC Arabic closed between 10pm and 10am? Why are they showing the info pages at 2pm?

Believe that some of the pre-recorded shows are not cleared for web streaming - so are only broadcast on the TV outlets?

Just if anyone didn't know, Dave Hewson, the guy who composed the News at Ten music, composed the BBC Arabic TV and Radio music.

I thought NaT's music was "The Awakening" by Johnny Pearson? Did Dave Hewson arrange the version used?

That's right, if you watch the latest headlines recording each side of a restricted hour then you will see the opt out in action. It is on the Arabic TV 'to do' list to tidy this up, as it currently just crashes between the two sources.

Will the new News24 studio be similar to the BBC Arabic studio? Might make sense since they were being put together at a similar time.

So apparently you've ignored everything said in the BBC Rebranding thread?

News 24 are moving into N6, a 'small broomcupboard' studio with BARCO projection screens around it. So no it probably won't look anything like BBC Arabic. And if you read the BBC Rebranding thread you'd know BBC Arabic 'theme' was designed by BBC News, compared to News 24's rebrand from Lambie Nairn, so will have a completely different look and feel.

Well, it is possible they may treat N6 like the Arabic studio. They could put the same kind of imagery behind on the projector screens, and they could employ the use of virtual set extensions to make the sides and top of the set appear larger. They could even add sounds from the News Centre into the transmission to make it feel more 'alive and busy'. It wont be Pink and purple, like BBC Arabic, but the style could be used.

Does anyone know when BBC Arabic will be broadcasting 24 hours?

Also, apart from the website, is BBC Arabic available any other way in Europe?

I would imagine when they can go 24 hours is dependant on when they can get the staff and newsreaders (bearing in mind they have to speak Arabic).

BBC Arabic, off the top of my head, is available on the Hotbird cluster of satellites at 13°E, along with BBC World.

Would I have to set up a new satellite, or could I use my existing satellite that I use for Sky?
