Is BBC Arabic 'off air' currently? I get redirected to a radio feed and the headlines video is showing text headlines instead.

It's only on-air 1000 to 2200

Any idea on how the response regarding BBC Arabic is like in the Middle East? How was it publicised before its launch? Very Happy

Here we are Bvsh Hovse, I'm sure this must be it. It's made to look as if there is another floor above with a balcony looking down on the set. Looks very nice:

That's the one, and it looks more impressive when you see it off air, sadly the streaming process doesn't convey the subtlety very well. Off air you can see movement in the upper gallery and the monitors changing. All a video loop I'm sure, but for the few seconds you get of it, the illusion does hold.

Nice to see it looks like the alignment had been fixed too, I noticed during the pilot the pillars don't line up between the two floors.

So the upper floor is virtual, what else is? The left portion of the 'ground floor' newsroom? Very Happy

Just if anyone didn't know, Dave Hewson, the guy who composed the News at Ten music, composed the BBC Arabic TV and Radio music.

Shame his website's rubbish! Would be great if he ever got round to putting a few of the tracks on there, I really like the music.

What is that programme with the 2 anchors standing at an angle infront of the desk?

It's the BBC Newshour, more analysis, interviews etc. There's a second edition at 8pm, although with only one anchor.

Everything on the left is real, I've sat at those desks myself when I've been working from Egton.

It is the stuff above the red line that has been added afterwards.

Oh, so only the '2nd storey' is virtual? Where's the smaller desk set with the gallery behind, is it to the right of the main set? Very Happy

Look at the reflection on the floor (the 2nd floor is missing), it gives it away really...

The set with the small desk and the gallery backdrop is in a second studio with a separate gallery, it isn't in the studio with the large desk and big projector.

BBC Arabic have two studios and two galleries, which allows them to re-set the large studio and I guess rehearse stuff, whilst the small studio and gallery are on-air with live news programmes..
