I didn't post that but hopefully tomorrow I will be able to locate our distributed feeds for the first programme and I will try to post this.

Piece of advice for you Pres fans there. If you have a chance have a look at the 1800UTC and 2000UTC bulletins as they are our set piece Newshour programmes and they have different presentation from the normal run of the mill bulletins. Also at 1506UTC we have some of our long form programmes.

wow is all I can say! I love the three violin chords at the begining of the headlines - makes it sound very authoritative. Love the graphics also (I wish we could have glassy blocks in the British relaunch.....)

Overall, the look is very professional - it sets a very good example for the BBC abroad

From what I've seen the launch has gone really well.

There were some technical issues on the launch day that affected the Radioman system used by Arabic radio - but the TV side put on a fantastic day of production and I think everyone who has worked on the project is proud of what has been achieved. Likewise future media did a great job on the new website, despite the number of last minute changes and technical challenges that were put in front of them.

Now it's time to think about doing it all again for Persian.

I've not seen a Newshour yet, but Talking Point at 15:06 (Mon,Wed,Fri - repeated 11:06 following day) is a very impressive bit of presentation, despite the content being just a phone in show. The video wall looks so much better than the N6 wall, and driving the graphics in a way that makes it look like the presenter is using it as a huge touch screen looks very cool.

One other think to look out for is that the programme continues on the radio afterwards. To link the two together you see the presenter walk out the studio, across the newsroom, into a radio studio and put his headphones on. This is done live each day so you get to see different people hiding from the camera each day Smile

There are also documentaries on each day later on from 19:10 (repeated following day at 13:10) but some are rights restricted so you will see the flashapp that appears after closedown streamed instead during these times.

This channel looks a lot better then any of the BBC News branded channels, with stunning titles, it really is stunning watching it on a plasma, the set is brilliant, this is how BBC World should have been!

Something about the set reminds me of the N6 screen walls, I guess this is what we have to expect. I just wonder where the live view of the newsroom will come from, BBC World's (when the set is out of use?, if there is even a live newsroom used on the screens naturally)

It's more of a shot of the gallery than a newsroom, and if they used an 'artificial' version of this for News 24 in N6 it'd look OK for tight shots, but not sure about wide shots.

Well I thought the gallery was behind the newsroom.

In My Opinion...

We need a more Launch BBC News 24 approach. Have the presenter/s in the studio, with a nice overview of the news centre, but for weather, sports, business, cross to shots of the newsroom and do updates from the desks.

Are you talking about on BBC Arabic, or News 24?

I think people are getting confused by BBC Arabic.

The large studio seems to have a more newsroomy backdrop, with the gallery in the very distant background, very blurred. The smaller studio has a gallery backdrop.

BBC Arabic has two studios and two galleries...

Many people forget that Kate Garraway was a News 24 launch presenter...

... while the BBC's flagship BBC1 bulletins and News 24 services will soon have to make do with one, despite all the problems that's already causing.
