Press Office has revealed the BBC's coverage of the 60th anniversary after the end of World War II. The coverage will include BBC News Specials - on the actual day of the end of WWII and days leading up to it. There will also be several documentaries, radio shows and factual programmes broadcasted all over BBC channels - terrestrial and digital.

Yes, we're none too impressed with the idea of reducing the end of a conflict that saw millions die worldwide, into what amounts to a marketing man's second rate attempt at something catchy.

Rumour has it that at least one announcer in a BBC outpost has refused to say it, and the likelyhood is he'll be joined by at least one more.

I shall be talking to my regional "People's War" co-ordinator about the matter.
