I think today is a shining example of there actually being no cuts this Xmas to pres staffing.

Quite surprised to see Clive pop up for the afternoon and Jane Hill stand down right after the 1, with a little Shaun Ley in between.

As I mentioned earlier - these briefings are not planned as such, but thrown out as when it is deemed necessary. Having a couple, or more pres on site seems perfectly normal in the current climate.

Ben at 21:00 GMT makes this even more intresting.

Apparently he’s been called in in case there’s a Brexit deal.

It better not be between 4:15 and 5:55 this afternoon when Paddington 2 is on!

Perhaps they should just stop showing Paddington 2, it seems to get in the way of everything Wink

More 2020 shading-looking no announcement before the 3:50 BBC1 bulletin (famous last words!)

Just leave it to the bulletins and the news channel - there is little advantage to disrupting the schedule today and it isn't a matter of public health. Indeed it is in the interests of public health not to remove family films from the schedule today.

I would hope that if the announcement came at short notice during a film today, that they would interrupt BBC Two's schedule instead and show a caption on BBC One.

C4 extended their bulletin today and to be honest summed it up in one report and one live. Anything beyond that in a rolling news environment is mainly opinion - better to just package up the facts for the bulletins and leave it at that.
