Brit journalist and ABCNEWS correspondent Martin Bashir buttered up Michael Jackson in documentary out-takes viewed by a California jury on Thursday.

When Jackson complained media coverage of him is often "twisted," Bashir assured him, "We aren't going to do that here."

He also told Jackson that the entertainer was "looking so sexy" during the taping.

"Women are going to be taking their pants off and throwing them at the screen," Bashir said.

There's a rule in journalism, it's called impartiality. If this transcript is true, it's out of order.

Has ITV/Granada been fined by Ofcom? And if it hasn't, why not?

Oh please - in order to get the footage required to prove what Bashir believed Jackson was doing wrong, he had to do this. Can you imagine if he'd said to Jackson: "Ok, so what we're going to do is an expose of how you sleep with kids" that he would've been given permission.

On these grounds you're presumably complaining that investigative reporters who sneak their way into Buckingham Palace or Faslane naval base to show the poor security are also disgraceful.

Yes, but it does look Bashir look like a bit of an idiot.

Presumably when Mark Daly was doing his undercover work for The Secret Policeman, he would have had to gain the trust of his colleagues. Therefore I assume he would have used similar methods.

I know Michael Jackson lives in his own world, but surely he wasn't so stupid and naive to think Bashir was his friend? He should have known from the start how he was going to portray him.

It's precisely because Jacko lives in his own little world that he chose Bashir to do the interview.

I expect he thought he would get the Diana treatment, such is his belief that he is/was on-par with her.

Kiddy fiddling fool.
