Where did Chris and Joanna go just before 1pm? Chris was speaking right up until the moment Sian came on screen, as there was no countdown or anything between the News at 1 and the 12pm newshour.
Perhaps Chris had moved to the newswall so they could change the desk back to single-presenter setup, and either left the studio while Sian was doing the headlines (seeing as that's quite a tight shot) or during the titles?
Fox News were doing a lot of coverage in the first hour. They even had solemn music going into the break. France 24 doing back to back coverage. CNBC also doing coverage before the markets opened.
What probably happened was Sian and Joanna swapped while Chris was speaking, the shot on Sian was tight so Chris could then get out before the Titles ran. Remember we didn't see Matthew sit down either.
Interesting all our chat has been about bbc coverage with a breif comment about itv. What are sky, al jazeera etc up to?
Sky broke the news at 12:48 with Sarah Jane Mee then Adam Boulton took over at 1pm and is still on now, Obit report from Joey Jones who is also live in Downing Street, Lots of guests in the studio and on the phone including Ken Livingstone, Kelvin MacKenzie, Lord Howe, Matthew Paris & Lord Hurd
