Nice to hear 2 references in Loose Women to the "ITN news".

All that practice and the Beeb still got it wrong when it came to the crunch!
It would be very fitting if her funeral was to be privatised, put out to tender and then awarded to the lowest bidder, and likewise for the funeral coverage. After all this was the woman who brought in compulsory competitive tendering for everything from council services to television programmes...
I think the BBC's coverage has been good. Clearly well prepared for this event. If all the Daily Mail can pick the BBC up on is a brief typo on its website, it has done well:

I'm sure I heard a BBC presenter say 'strike' not stroke too, easy to do in the circumstances, and even easier on a keybiard
I'm really surprised that the only two media ooops that came out yesterdays were the BBC typo and CNN's Savile shot. Normally there'd be at least 3 or 4 prominent people who put their foot in it or cause some sort of mack 'outrage'

*ahem*
You really don't think there will be wall-to-wall coverage and suspension of schedules when the Queen eventually dies?
This will look like nothing compared to that.
She was infinitely more significant to the world than any British monarch.

I'm sorry if I go a bit off-topic, but may I ask what's with that moving thing on top of the screen?

In the coverage on MSNBC, Joe Scarborough (a former Republican congressman turned presenter) was rhapsodising about the Thatch and her impact on the UK. He and some former New York Times reporter were falling over themselves to tell an anecdote about when she was at a restaurant with her Cabinet and asked for steak. 'What about the vegetables?' she was asked. 'Oh they'll have the same as me.' She said. Of course, what neither so called expert realised, was the fact that was actually a sketch from Spitting Image. They both genuinely thought it had happened in real life.
