SKY being a bit jumpy. Andrew Wilson tonight quickly cutting the start of the next Thatcher VT for Gates opening/closing. SKY wants to obviously show us the Baroness' body being taken away.

I think the BBC's coverage has been good. Clearly well prepared for this event. If all the Daily Mail can pick the BBC up on is a brief typo on its website, it has done well:

Great work from the Mail there - on the same page as " Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham in 'sex tape scandal'"

So appropriate...

I'm sure I just heard the Noel's House Party Gunge siren on Newsnight just then.

Yes - I think it's more likely to be Huw Edwards with Sophie Raworth/ Fiona Bruce/ Sian Williams in supporting roles.

Agreed, although I'd be surprised if David Dimbleby doesn't have at least some input in the BBC's coverage - I'm sure they'll utilise him in some form even if Huw Edwards leads the presenting team.

I sincerely think Alastair Stewart and James Mates will have prominent roles in ITV's coverage of the funeral. I think Mates did a brilliant job commentating during the Royal Wedding and Diamond Jubilee coverage.

It was excellent. Martha Kearney pieces were superb.

May I ask when did the Breaking News status ended on BBC, and how many hours did it lasted?
And it seems BBC WN overnights are still doing A LOT of Thatcher stories... haven't yet moved on? Confused

Daybreak opened at 6 with the video wall area bathed in purple and Matt and Helen on the rostrum and the camera have a sort of aggressive and serious pull down with the music. Then they quickly reviewed the front pages about Baroness Thatcher using a camera parallel to the sofa camera, framed up quite well. Helen doing other news stories at the news desk. Continue this throughout the broadcast and Daybreak will have covered it well.

To be fair, Thatcher was one of the most important European political leaders of the 20th century. Whatever one may think of her, she changed the face of the UK and left a strong imprint on European and world affairs. She was infinitely more significant to the world than any British monarch.
