So 5 NEWS Special at 5 then the soaps then a special 5 News tribute programme, perhaps not a live news programme like at 5.

Not the Beeb, all media outlets. No doubt that was carried live by many Globally. In the interests of ALL parties to get it right, so liasing essential in the circumstances.

I'm sure the PM wants his statement heard by as many people in the UK as possible so timing it with a bulletin that is watched by 5 million people serves the PM interest more.

ITV also cut the credits to The Chase to one single black screen and 1' page' of credits before as normal but by this point earlier to local news promo

Nothing to do with Thatcher - they often only air short credits and I think only air the full credits on Fridays.
