I'll admit Lucy and tony ARE a breath of freshair to the programme. They work really well together, Kucy must be approaching a decade of presenting granada tonight/Reports now. Lucy is more at home on the Sofa as used to be for Granada Tonight. I personally think that the quality of Granada Report HAS improved but this is due to the set and presenters rater than the news they present. NWT also has a BETTER set but old gordon is getting on a bit and uis desperate need of Anabelle tiffin to co-host with him. i perosnally like the Granada reports set as thgey experiment with it and the backdrop is ncie but i prefer the old set they had before that was vert up mto date for Granada who are knwon for the stale look over the past few years(rememeb the study office desk, that looked ridiculous and the newsdesk (orange and blue with 2 t.v. screens they had before they revamped in 2003 and before the itv look was pretty atrocious. i do watch Granada reprts now wehere i can but i'd still say Tony is the right choice to work woth Lucy,Anna has improved as well when she gets the odd chance to fromt G.R.

i must say -Greports is certainly improving...new set and great covergae of Dixon stuff last week. Could do with a freshening up with reporters though..some are so dour. Less of Matt O'donaghue and his funky eyebrows and more spark such as Claire Ashforth and Ashley Derricott.

Hope peter returns soon - he must be on holiday or something.

Peter Berry, haven't seen him do the 10.55am bulletins for some time now, TBH he didn't look very comfortable on the new seating.

Of course, Peter Berry, I lost my trade of thought for a moment. I haven't seen any early updates for a few weeks.

Is Maria Gearing still doing it, or is someone else doing it this week.?.

She appears to be on at 10.55am most days, don't know about the GMTV bulletins.

One thing I wish Granada would sort out is the background on the screen, it would be better if they used the Manchester shot at most times, rather than only saving that shot for the main Granada Reports and the moving blue for all of the Granada News bulletins.

I got my copy of the Regional Programme Statement last week and it's says that they are considering closing down the Blackburn and Chester Newsrooms, but these would be replaced by 2 Satellite trucks or something similar. I'm personally surprised they haven't given the Liverpool newsroom the chop, as that is never used.

It may not appear on screen, but surely it is used for newsgathering...

I know that, but you would think that the operation would have scaled down, as Granada is based at the Albert Dock and IIRC it is a pretty big building and I would have assumed that overhead costs are high enough.

They're just not using it to it's full potential, in the days when the main bulletin would come from Manchester and all of the updates would come from Liverpool.

They seem to have dropped the Mixed bed tonight, i guess it was just the normal ITV Regional News bed.

Good, I hated the 'Meridian Report' style headlines bed, but did they use the normal swoosh at the beginning, ala Granada News?

they used the "Dum, dum dum dum" sting at the end of reading the headlines.

When I was in Liverpool last year I went to the Albert Dock and noticed they have a smaller building now for Granada Studios, the building which was used for this morning appears to no longer be a tv studio?

I also noticed this week when in Manchester they have a new ITV Granada sign outside the studios in Quay Street.
