Anyone know the timescale from People and Places, Scene at 6.30 to Granada Reports?
Granada Tonight, I'm reasonably sure, began in 1990
AFAIK, previous names have been Scene at 6.30, Northern Newscast and Six O One (yes the latter one isn't a joke.), though it was Granada Reports by 1980, but I'm rather certain it became Granada Reports in 1976. Granada Tonight was born on the 1st January 1990, and the current Granada Reports was born on the 1st October 2001.
Though I'm glad they changed it back to Granada Reports, it made it more like a News programme, where as Granada Tonight always looked very tacky and very American crossed with a watered down This Morning.
I forgot to mention this but the other week I saw Granada Reports and the top story came from North Wales. I was surprised that Granada covered this story full stop let alone the top story. ITV Wales also had it as their top story.
But a huge part of north Wales is in Granada's TSA, so of course they're going to cover it.
Technically Wales should cover it as its part of Wales. Granadas should cover Merseyside, Manchester and Lancashire.
Actually, technically, the area from the north Welsh border to about half way across Anglesey is in Wales' patch AND ALSO Granada's patch. That's the way it will probably remain for the next few years until next time ITV redraw the map.
So of course if its a big news story Granada are going to cover it. I know from experience that there are still many people in North Wales who watch Granada Reports.

Alright I was only saying I was surprised to see the TOP STORY on Granada Reports coming from Wales when its usually Liverpool or Manchester.
I don't get top see Granada Reports as much recently as I used top, but, what has happened to Trevor Green.?. Has he gone back to Sky News again or have I just missed some of his Reports.?.
Can anyone tell me where Lucy Cotter has come from? Has she progressed through Granada or been poached from elsewhere? I think she's great. She has very clear and understandable speech and I think she's doing well with the weekend/late bulletins.
I also enjoyed seeing Sarah Elliott on Granada Reports last week in place of Lucy Meacock. It was a nice change - she's got a good onscreen personality.
