Unsatisfactory point, DJ. What if I'm unavailable to see NWT at 6.30 and GR is my only news broadcaster?
Your gripe appears to be the links in between the reports rather than the quality of the journalism on the programme.
For every person who dislikes the anchors, there are many others who do. You can't please all of the people all of the time, unfortunately and it's a matter of personal taste.
ITV 1 North East Tonight is infinitely better by comparison, the show benefitting from less egotistical presenters.
I think you need to watch NET before you comment, young man/woman/thing.
Johnathan Morrell is one of the most boring, dreary, dull and static presenters I have ever met. His personality off-camera is certainly not reflected on camera, and the programme just seems to lack life. Let's not forget the twenty minute sports segment and the horrid human-life stories.
And I take it you haven't watched the end of the programme, where Bob has a little bit of banter with the other presenters?
Whilst I do agree with you that Lucy Meacock and Tony Morris aren't the best (Meacock in particular is dreadful, looking at her video on thetvroom.com "Tonight, the report nooo moootorissst should missss, as a griiiieving mother begs us to stoooop drinking and driving." - pathetic) I do feel like they try their best to keep a sinking ship afloat - after all, we'll all be receiving our regional news from a little CSO in London before long!
Hi, kind of new to this thing!, Sureley if they took the local news to london it would defeat the object? but it wouldnt surprise me in the least. ITV have shown blatent disrespect to the granada brand, a brand far stringer in the north west than ITV1. Unrelated i know but when Granada reports first made its comeback around 2001/2002, in the yellow set with the beach colourd desk, i am sure i saw a closing shot from a few sofas from what it ooked to the right of the set. a sort of soft area, with a coffee table. Or have i just imagined this? anyone shed any light. If it was there it wasnt used for long.......
Yeah maybe that was it, http://www.tvwhirl.co.uk/granadanews.html if you have a look at the clip here of the lection special 2001, it seems to be comming from that area, just minus the sofa's and using the middle part f the main GR desk.

Granada Reports returned in October 2001, this also saw the end of the Armchair ear. However, they did use a comfier set which was to the side of the main set, this was used for quirky items and usually for non-new stories. It didn't say for very long, I think it eventually got used for sports programmes like Soccer Night.
For those watching Granada Reports these past few days will know that Mike Hall has been sent to Germany to report on England, but I couldn't help but notice he's been sent with an ITV News branded microphone, found out why tonight. Simply as he's also being used in other regions, couldn't help but notice on the MP's feed he was on Central News At Six West, probably doing the same thing. Though its worth a mention, and good on ITV News for using Granada for this.
Well one of the bonus features of merging carlton and granada back months ago was that itv news became one. ie ITV news could use any opf the ITV newsrooms should they wish. Makes sense really especially at weekends, a story needs covering in birmingham say, damned cheaper for ITV to have a central regional bloke reporting than a correspondant from london and a crew etc....unless its a huge story of course.
