Ta for that. So Denbighshire, Flintshire and Conwy are actually Granada rather than HTV. Interesting that HTV have offices in Colwyn Bay and Wrexham which are in Granada's patch. Colwyn Bay in itself is an odd choice as its a small seaside town!

I think Colwyn Bay is just a central-ish northern town -- the National Assembly is there too.

As for the counties you mentioned, they are really an overlap area. If anything it is more HTV's patch by the old IBA geographical definitions -- the fact Granada still broadcast and cover there is a cultural/historical throwback, and probably an annoyance to them, particularly since I've never seen Welsh companies advertise on the station.

Yes but the blue map on the ITV regions page (that doesnt show overlap areas) suggests the area is more Granada's not HTV's. People in those counties I mentioned would probabaly prefer to hear the news from North West England anyway as places like Manchester, Chester and Liverpool are far closer to home than Swansea, Cardiff and surrounding area's which seem to dominate the news coverage on HTV Wales.

The main headlines recap was mucked up then, we had a shot of Tony looking half asleep and then turned around and said "You're Joking" then it went off to a shot of the ITV News titles.

Does anybody know why today's ending was changed? They said good night at 6.27 and then we had about 1min 30 seconds of images from the region people had sent in, This ended and then it went to the weather and then the ITV News.

Thursday's Granada Reports was too heavily loaded with quips and banter from the presenters, who I have yet to fully decide on. Are they bad newsreaders or bad comedians? I believe it to be one or the other.

Any newsreading authority and credibility the pair have is rapidly frittered away when one hears the incessant irreverence between reports. A slightly more serious tone would be welcomed I think.

A far more energetic show when compared to North West Tonight, the bombardment of competitions and 'email us your views' plugging lets the show down too.

The pair would do well to learn from Gordon Burns that if you have little to say, smile and say very little. Understated excellence.

When I came in from the pub I caught the second half of a Granada special on the Morecambe tragedy that had started at 11pm instead of the scheduled Crimefighters.
Did either Tony or Lucy present it?
It seemed to be built around Elaine Willcox in China.
I didn't see what Granada did at 6pm.

It's worth remembering that the audience for Granada Reports isn't meant to be exactly the same as for BBC NWT. It's aimed at a younger viewer, so is meant to be pacier and fresher. And let's remember banter is nothing new - Granada Reports has always had a reputation for trying to be slightly wacky and light hearted (Fred the Weather, etc). Remember that news isn't all doom and gloom!

I agree the banter on Granada Report is pants, but it at least flows - unlike the dreadful pauses and silences when Gordon tries a bit of chit chat with his colleagues. It's absolutely cringeworthy, even after all this time.

Also, I don't think it's fair to criticise Granada for promoting listener interaction. BBC NWT does it all the time.

As for competitions, they beat BBC NWT hands down in terms of prizes. It's all so worthy with the beeb.

Hi there..yes I agree that the banter is better on GR than NWT.
When I go down to see my sister in Chester, I like Lucy and Tony better than Gordon.
Double headed programmes are better at provided us with some banter! I cannot buy that Gordon and Diane are genuinely the same off the camera to what they are on it.

Anna Thomas was last seen presenting the news in early February, the weekend news.

I know there have been discussions before about her possibly being freelance, but does anybody know ehat she is doing now.?.

I presume she has left Granada, but is that official.?.

I've seen her reporting live on BBC Breakfast and also presenting on GMTV so I guess it's safe to say she has officially left Granada - not a b ig surprise really, she always seemed a bit classy for them.

Shouldn't someone tell Tony Morris he isn't funny and his pratting around gives him no credibility whatsoever as a newsreader? His partner in crime is not too much better. It's almost as if they're desperate for the 6.10 fluffies to come around.

ITV 1 North East Tonight is infinitely better by comparison, the show benefitting from less egotistical presenters.

Well you know what they say, if you don't like it, don't watch it.
