I think Colwyn Bay is just a central-ish northern town -- the National Assembly is there too.
As for the counties you mentioned, they are really an overlap area. If anything it is more HTV's patch by the old IBA geographical definitions -- the fact Granada still broadcast and cover there is a cultural/historical throwback, and probably an annoyance to them, particularly since I've never seen Welsh companies advertise on the station.
Yes but the blue map on the ITV regions page (that doesnt show overlap areas) suggests the area is more Granada's not HTV's. People in those counties I mentioned would probabaly prefer to hear the news from North West England anyway as places like Manchester, Chester and Liverpool are far closer to home than Swansea, Cardiff and surrounding area's which seem to dominate the news coverage on HTV Wales.
