NWT mentioned they won a couple of RTS Awards over the Weekend, including Best Regional News Programme, one wonder how many Granada won?[/quote]

Lucy Meacock did say at the end of the show that Jane Dougal won Best News Reporter at the awards.

Yes it would appear NWT won Best Programme and Best Presenter for Gordon and Granada Reports won Best Journalist for Jane Dougall.

Sounds about right and fare to me.

She is freelancing for ITV news I think as well. Heard her voicing a package a few weekends ago about the riots in France.

well done to jane Dougall but i think the fact that a dour and boring NWT won best programme says a lot about how poor things must be at Granada...i dont know if they are just broke and cant afford any decent people.

Let's look at the evidence: Marie Gearing, Caroline Wareham..lifeless presenters and so many of their reporters are dull.

Tony and Lucy are great together but it needs a change in other places..

I agree with your comments so went and had a look at the RTS website to see what was said by the Judges but there were no comments.

However I see Granada Reports had two nominations for Best Programme (to the BBC's one which won).

While Mike Hall and Elaine Willcox were nominated along with Jane Dougall (and the excellent Jayne Barrett for the BBC).

So all can't be bad.

Yes, Maria Gearing is poor but far better than Peter Berry who thank God was finally ejected from our screens.

Rob Smith and Kate Giffard are good as well.

What I can't believe is that Gordon won Best Presenter over the BBC's Dan Walker or even Channel M's Andy Crane. Plus neither Tony or Lucy were nominated!!!

I'm sorry but while Gordon is a legend he is terrible when things go wrong and also very lifeless when things go right.

I was going to email the RTS committe to ask for their comments but then noticed they all work for the BBC - so maybe THAT has something to do with who won what?

Well it appears Granada Reports are giving most of the programme over to George Best tonight, but they've altered the studio, dropped the Manchester view and they're going for the Calendar approach of being by the third Plasma (which I didn't know they had) but it looks better IMO.

That whole 3rd plasma thing was just dire. They looked ridiculous stood there with Tony bending round to look at the screen.

And I wish they would quit with that "your thoughts to.." strap/ticker which keep appearing, with the DOG fading on and off.

Good how the projecter screen is being used for the story. Has just switched back actually to the Manchester shot, for the rest of the days news.

I wonder if they are experimenting with eth studio set up as a new look?

They are using these new shots again tonight with coverage of the Anthony Walker Trial.

The 3rd plasma always looks good on Calendar. The difference here though looks like it is located a few miles away from the rest of the set, with the rest of the screens very small in the background

Sarah Elliot of Border News is coming to Granada, I read on another thread.

Does anybody know when she is coming and what role she will be doing.?.
