Network 10 Australia Gulf War coverage from 17 January 1991. The was the first night of the coverage. The clip is the announcement to viewers of the suspension of normal programming and 24 hour coverage of the war by Ten Sydney's 6:00pm anchor, the late Eric Walters.
This occurred a few days after the network had "re-launched" with a new logo and program schedule (still in use) which they now got to show on screen 24 hours a day.

The return of
Eyewitness News?
(Source: Ten News Perth Facebook)
It looks like Australia will see Eyewitness News make a comeback to our screens. Ten Eyewitness News was last seen on the east coast in 1994 and lasted a little longer in Adelaide and Perth. It made way for the clean, sharp Ten News brand - with other networks following suit and throwing out their own long-winded news brands. Now, the term may seem a bit of a throwback and an anachronism - and few would have predicted its resurrection - but Eyewitness News may have found new meaning in today's social media driven news landscape. Ten is also reportedly making the move to allow smoother news branding across its multi-channels One, Ten and Eleven.

Seven News at 7 on 7Two (followed by 7th Heaven at 7:30... to add more sevens) was always going to be permanent due to Mel hosting, and Nine News at 7 on GEM-HD has continued on after the election, despite Nine making it clear that it was just for the election.
Ten doesn't have any news bulletins on Eleven or One, however a potential rebranding to Eyewitness News would be the first step in allowing them to launch some without muddying Eleven and One's branding. Seven's 7two bulletin is fine since 'Seven News' doesn't seem out of place, however on Nine and Ten's multichannels it is a bit different since they are branded with as little reference to their mother-channel as possible. Nine was however broadcasting The Ashes on GEM-HD under Nine's Wide World of Sports and now has Nine News at 7 , so perhaps they are thinking of rebranding the channel with a stronger link to Nine in the future. My prediction anyways. End wall-of-text.
There's also speculation on Media Spy that this announcement is only hinting at the launch of a new app similar to CNN iReport, since Eyewitness News is sort of appropriate for that.
Does Ten have any news on One and Eleven though? I know Seven and Nine had bulletins on their digital channels during the election campaign - not sure if these are continuing, but as those Aussies love their news programmes they probably are.
