BBC World's Martine Dennis has just handed over to the BBC News Channel. I believe the presenter on duty is Maxine Mawhinney? World interrupted normal programming to bring the Breaking News.

CNN also breaking into normal programming, with John Vause taking over from Reggie Aqui at CNNI.

AJE and BBCW still "speculating" that "ASSK has been released", whereas CNNI are going full on with confirmation that she has been released.

What is Sky doing?

Veronica Pedrosa running the AJE coverage. All outlets have "secret correspondents" on location, who shall of course remain unamed for security reasons.

BBC News have just astoned their correspondent on screen, which is a bit of a surprise. In other words, "Voice of XXXX XXXXXX". One wonders if this was an error??

Clearly not an error, as Maxine has now just specifically addressed him by name.

Radio 4 didn't identify their reporter on Today, but News Channel did earlier - I was pondering whether they were only naming reporters on outlets that could only (easily) be heard in the UK. Clearly that's not the case, given they're now naming them on World.

Said "outed" correspondent is himself now interviewing another of his BBC News colleagues on the scene, but is being very careful to refer to him only as "my colleague", and no reference to his name.

I wonder how this all works, where some are named and some not?

Clearly, we are hearing all of this over a crackly mobile phone line.

The same happened on the 6 last night when he gave his report. Fiona said is was for his own safety.

Sky not naming their correspondent in Burma? Why..

Sky not naming their correspondent in Burma? Why..

Because, as Lorna has just said, foreign journalists are banned from Burma and as such they are travelling on tourist visas. Thus for their safety and security they are not naming them.

I presume the person who was named earlier is the one being named now, in which case its someone with a VERY distinctive voice therefore there is little point in not naming him.

Its amazing how the BBC are happy to say that John Simpson is in Rangoon (their almost publicising it) yet Sky are being very careful not to mention Lisa Holland's and Holly Williams' names.

Perhaps they have given the reporters themselves the choice.

ITV News not mentioning reporters names in introductions, but reporters appear to be signing off in the usual manor.
