Caught a little trailer for something else on Fox News this morning but wasn't particularly inclined to stick around after the bottom of the hour update to see it develop.

Apparently one of the anchors wanted to argue that America is being "too generous" in the amount of money it's giving towards the aid effort after the Tsunami. Shocked

John Sopel and Lyse Doucet have been doing some wonderful work across WORLD and 24 over the last few days. They are fantastic at anchoring the top of the hour sequences.

Sky have sent 'the next big thing' to the region, Chris Roberts is in Banda Aceh.

Sky are now introducing each hour as 'Sky News live from South East Asia'

Quite remarkable really, how well they are co-ordinating things. This hour has three presenters - Kay Burley in Sri Lanka, Julie Etchingham in Thailand, and Chris Roberts in Indonesia.

It really does eclipse the sort of thing that News 24 are providing, I'm afraid to say.

Completely agree - though News 24 improving (only taken a week).

Am not arguing with the fact that BBC had more people on ground, and have preferred their reports (partic Rachel Harvey and Andrew Harding in Indonesia) than the "look at me, i'm here" of ITV to be honest. But that's a personal thing. And Sky is just sooooo slick.

Just one other point - Huw was down to do Saturday and today's BBC One main news bulletins. As he didn't show up on Sat, and wasn't on at lunchtime, let's hope he's in the region...

Remember that those three Sky correspondents are ONLY servicing Sky News. That's it. They're free to be there every hour.

The BBC correspondents are working for other outlets ASWELL as World and News 24.

I wonder which (if any) of the Sky News presenters thought 'I want to go out there and cover it'.

I also wonder if they had any choice and thought 'bugger, that's my xmas/new year down the pan'.

It is quite possible that Huw has gone out there. Can anyone confirm whether Sian Williams has gone out there. It was mentioned in another thread.

Yep - though there are other reasons for people not to appear when they are scheduled to - like a case of the 'flu. (Quite common this time of year...)

Looks like the main news tonight is being extended. Was this announced earlier, or have most the late bulletins been extended??
