I see that CNN are showing ITV News Channel pictures. Also ITV News have been reporting the arrests at Liverpool Street with Chris Choi on the spot. Sky News reporter Martin Brunt is unaware of the situation and Sky News have not confirmation that anything is going on. Perhaps they ought to check out ITV News.

I was a bit perplexed when the story initially broke.
It flashed up on Sky, and I flicked over to the Beeb and they already had helicopter pictures over the area and a correspondent there. Sky seemed to arrive about two minutes later, but from then it went entirely Sky's way, mostly because of the eyewitness but also because Matthew Amroliwala brings a sense of boredom to any situation that is just unrivalled.

The operation at Notting Hill began around 11am, but the Police asked for a security blackout from broadcasters, which expains why sometime after 12.30pm when the blackout was lifted all the news channels had correspondents on the ground ready to cover it (and of course the BBC helicopter).
Given how News 24 has been beaten by its main rival yet again today, presumably they have to justify its existence in some way, so on to BBC Two it went.

Sky and BBC News 24 are different in the way they present the news. Sky take a more sensationalist approach and some find that presentation much more exciting and interesting to watch.
News 24 usually take a more reserved approach and some people prefer that form of presentation.
I'm not sure even if the BBC could have had the witness that Sky had, as a result of their new guidlines about how they present the newsthey would have broadcast her relying of events live. Later, their reporter at Scotland Yard said the police didn't want the details broadcast in case the suspects found out what is going on or if it jeopardises the operation.
So I don't think they were beaten, they just have a different style of presentation.
