They often do this when they are putting emphasis on the pictures or if they are trying to show off the visual aspect of their coverage (if that makes any sense)

What about the other news channels?

At the moment, Sky News showing recorded pictures from earlier, BBC News 24 showing live pictures of Notting Hill (with the large strap put back on), and ITV News showing Live and Earlier pictures in a split screen.

Sky are now being told not to use live pictures of the situation.

KB Just said that Sky are no longer showing 'live' pictures from Notting Hill by request from the Police.

Sky news providing excellent coverage. The best by far. When the story broke, Sky were live at the scene, and as earlier described the civilian eyewitness was excellent in her reports. BBC News 24 were showing and reporting from several blocks away. ITV news was as usual really crap showing regional program London Today.. CNN were live showing live reports and FOX was showing Sky .

Yes, excellent coverage earlier from Sky, clearly all news channels are suffering from not being able to show live images from the scene, but that eyewitness commentary earlier was extraordinary, pity they had to end it. From the police shouting Mohammed, it seems as though they do have one of the 21st suspects, or at least that is what Fox are saying, so it is probably wrong.

BBC News 24 reporting that 2 women have been arrested at Liverpool Street Station.

Infact, Sky News are showing a recorded clip of the suspected bomber in Notting Hill being taken away by covered officers. Sky also reporting that 3 out of 4 attempted bombers have been arrested now which is good news but no news of 4th.

ITV missed out big time, and know it. Problem was the sat truck arrived in plenty of time and was then cordoned off ! so no one could transmit from it. Skys coverage has been excellent.
