I believe not only was Arise a bad payer, but that there was some sort of multiplier on the sum outstanding if it wasn't paid on time.
By that I mean something along the lines of: If you work a shift for me I will pay you £10 - if I don't pay you by Date Y - then I will pay you twice as much ie £20.
So some people were actually sort of 'hazed' into thinking " I wont worry if they don't pay me now, because I'll get twice as much in a while". Or some such nonsense. What a way to run a business.

When he is introduced to a courtroom by disgruntled people needing their wages
When will this notorious Nigerian ar(i)sehole named Obaigbena stop and finally surrender?

In addition, a former newspaper editor who worked for Arise's sister publication This Day (styled as THISDAY) successfully sued the owner for non-payment...but had to drag him back to court to receive compensation

The owner of Arise, Obaigbena, returned to Nigeria and is "laying low"

As for their television operation, their "Arise America" segments were cancelled as as May 2015 and had to clear out of their New York office space later in September.

Apparently, he was even worse to staffers in his native country---while Arise News reporters who were covering Gaza in 2014 went unpaid for their work, a year prior, 2013, his newspaper employees went on strike over unpaid wages....the VERY SAME YEAR Arise News launched. This seems to be a long-running pattern for the last couple of years.

Arise News is back off the air again. Just displaying a caption that says: Normal service will resume as soon as possible.

Looks like they are trying to get the channel back on the air. We are getting audio of their programming and commercials but no video!
IS
So, it's become a radio station now?
