Even though I think she is a top-class newsreader, I thought that she must be coming up for retirement age. Does anyone know if we'll be saying farewell to Mrs Ford soon. And also if she left who would pair up with Darren Jordon to replace her?
(this topic is prob already being discussed anyway - knowing me )
If she will be leaving, I would highly suspect that Jane Hill would replace her. She has presented the 1 before.
And very good she is too, but I wouldn't be too surprised when the day comes that Natasha may be in line for promotion, and could replace Anna, BUT if these rumours about the roster of presenters for the One and Six are to materialise, there probably won't be fixed anchors, then again remember that there were rumours of N24 simulcasting at 1pm.
I would assume Darren would become main anchor, and whoever (Jane / Natasha) would take on his current brief.
Maybe she will leave when they move to Broadcasting House in 2007. Shame when she does eventually go, she is almost all that is left of the old school BBC presenters.

I wouldn't hold your breath for a 2007 move. The last official date mentioned was 2008 - but there are scurrilous rumours flying around that 2010 and even 2012 may be nearer the mark.
If 2012 is an option then there are real issues with the TV Centre equipment. The BBC One, World and News 24 studios are all 1997/1998 vintage, and the technical kit hasn't been upgraded significantly since then. It might be pushing things to run on 15 year old cameras, servers, vision mixers etc.
The Breakfast/Working Lunch/Newsnight/Newsround etc. studio was re-furbished in 1996, and recently got new cameras, but still its infrastructure will be creaking I suspect by 2012.
There is also the issue that the Beeb has announced 100% HD production by 2010 - though I suspect this may not include all news programmes.
How old are you, jack, and how is your neck? Do you smoke????? You are probably wondering why I am asking you this and why should it matter anyway?
What has Anna Ford's neck got to do with the news that she presents? Surely you watch the bulletin, not to ogle at the presenter, but to listen to what she has to say????
If you switch on the news to expect Kaplinsky, only to find that it's Ford who's presenting, do you switch off????

Promotion? Have you seen how much she gets paid already? AFAIK she's one of the biggest, if not THE biggest, paid BBC newsreaders. Why would moving to the 1 o'clock news be a promotion?
